Thanks! A shame you can't join us. It will be an interesting experience. To me, this film is still what science fiction "looks" like. To some of my book club members (I believe I am the oldest one), it is simply out of date. A few of them did not recognize pictures of Robbie.

As for the last of our kind, I take comfort in believing we got to live through Science Fiction's golden age. Not many can say that.
We came in on its tail end, but close enough that classics from the '50s (even the '40s) were still considered core material for us as fans. Today, much of that has faded like the color of my hair. "The Caves of Steel" is still a good story, but I think it comes to very few minds these days when sf is mentioned. "Ringworld" might still do that.
"Amazing Stories" began publication in 1926. So, yeah, we lived long enough to see sf rise and fall.
