As for the last of our kind, I take comfort in believing we got to live through Science Fiction's golden age. Not many can say that.

Today, much of that has faded like the color of my hair. "The Caves of Steel" is still a good story, but I think it comes to very few minds these days when sf is mentioned. "Ringworld" might still do that.
"Amazing Stories" began publication in 1926. So, yeah, we lived long enough to see sf rise and fall.
