OK, there’s also this, which is probably the only one I took that isn’t technically an extreme close-up but a close-up.

    Thoughts?

Currently split between the first one and this.

Same nondescript white-passing guy as in the previous photos in the thread with what looks like a monitor behind him. He’s looking into the camera and smiling. Or is in pain. Or both.

@aral that's an extreme close-up, my friend. for it not to be, your neck (and ideally your shoulders) should be in frame and in the same layer as your face.

@aral considering a very technically traditional portrait framing, of course. your aesthetic proposition with these pics is obviously not traditional, so maybe what I said is worth zilch, lol. sorry.

@cairobraga Hah, no worries. During uni we usually considered it an extreme close-up if only part of the face was showing but I’m sure the definitions vary. And, degrees aside, I never really worked in the industry so 🤷‍♂️

@aral personally, I like the hint of a smirk on the first one better.

The last one looks sympathetic as well, but more like you just hit your toe and try to smile it away 😉

That said, they're both pretty good.

@oliver Haha, almost… I was hunched over the desk trying to get close to the camera I usually stream with :)

@aral I like the first one where your face is resting. I like to see people's resting faces. There are so many forced faces online these days (YouTube face being a particularly noisy face). Number one looks most natural.

@aral I really like this one, because the lens length isn't making it feel painfully close up. It's intimate without being in your face.
