Or, like, half a dozen of data centers in Kyiv, damaged in recent weeks. Not important?

Or multiple thousands of civilian infrastructure nodes, humanitarian services, apartment buildings - targeted in Ukraine daily for fifth year in a row?

The whole range from a famliy house to a highrise, to a kindergaden, to a electrical grid point of a megapolis, to the Dnipro Dam or the nuclear power plant (chose one which you care more - semi-active in Zaporizhzhia or the Ark in Chornobyl).

Or, what a concent, raise a word about killed and injured on (again) daily basise people of Ukraine.

Today is the day designated to all who protects Ukraine or did that in past, to remember all who died doing so.

Since it was re-established and made official, the title of that day explicitly includes men and women (using gendered version of the word "defender" in Ukrainian), to highlight that the protection of your country, your culture, your people is done by all.

This also creates a quirk in translation.

Last week I bought a retro computer of a kind I really wanted and have been looking for for some time. I bought via an online marketplace akin to Amazon - MercadoLibre - with a delivery, which may happen from today till Thursday this week.

The catch is that the vendor doesn't respond (yet) after I messaged them if they even still sell or have this piece. And I don't know if they aware of the order.

Because it's done via the platform, I'd likely get my money back in the case of no-show/no-delivery, but that'd reset my journey to get what I want.

And for now I'm in that anxious state where I could only wait. also I don't want to jinx it even by telling what it is :)

I searched for a "irc" string via the Flatpak CLI and the results are amazingly bad.
For comparison, I did the same on Flathub website afterwards (both for "IRC" and "irc", which return different results!).

When there was a period of instability of new Plasma (KDE) releases (not so long for me personally), the sarcastic phrase "Plasma does not crash" was frequent.

Nowadays it's rare, but then a problem with Plasma occurrs - the phrase still pops up in my mind.

A minute ago (I already restarted) I had my desktop frozen in an interesting manner - at first it was a single Konsole window, then the Yakuake that I spawned to deal with the first one, and I told about it in a chat to my friend, then no new windows could be shown and only then all input seized.

While rebooting, I recalled that phrase and it came to my mind that the more on-topic for the reference to the plasma as a state of a matter is to say "Plasma has frozen".

When it comes to switching to a different DE on my Linux workstation, I consider myself to be one of the lazy camp. I rarely care about the deep customization nowadays, therefore I've been a Gnome user for quite a decade. Something went off today, so I ended up installing Cosmic on my trusty old Fedora laptop. I'm tired of all the bullshit and absurdity of the SWE industry hiring practices.

I dropped out of the interview after 5 minutes for a generic (senior!) data engineer role because it was another scam:
- you've got mail from a bodyshop cover - https://www.linkedin.com/company/wizippo/
- you're contacted by non-descriptive person via gmail (mr.usman2526@gmail.com) sitting somewhere at GMT+5
- they join the call without camera and talk to you in heavily accented English, reading from the script
- after an introduction from you they tell "our engineers work on the tasks after a US citizen engineer gets the job/project"

THIS is what the USA companies get for their lack of desire to hire/contract real people directly - shady businesses with no guarantees and security, bordeline fraud right away and who knows what else.

I see that they use the same "idea" of one's citizenship as the Uruguayan DNIC (National Directorate of the Civic Identification): in my documents here it is stated that I'm a citizen of the *USSR* (which was *technicacally* correct while it existed, even if I never had a passport issued by the USSR).

English is my second language, which I use more than others in the last years, but my formal studies had ended long ago and I navigate mostly by the internalized understanding - close to intuition - rather than by recalling the exact rules.

In the previous toot I used a phrase "it is important to continue doing X", posted it and started to ruminate if this a sound English construct.

Isn't it "it is important continuing to do X"? Hm, it doesn't *feel* right, as the first one, but I don't know for sure.

This and similar cases make me to consult with the https://english.stackexchange.com (which is more valuable to me than the SO lately), to reinforce (for that phrase) that "intuition" or find out I was wrong.

"Never stop learning" is fun, but being anxious about everything isn't :)
