Now if this isn't the strangest issue ever. When I try to use alt+space to maximize the window in FastSMRW, to see if that's why it's cutting off longer posts, it opens the thread I'm sitting on. What in the ever loving hell?

@RandomFire Yeah, FastSM RW is a weird one. I tried to use it but it stumped me with the keystrokes. Now Fedra is my main program for mastodon with windows.

@NicksWorld Honestly, I don't even know, because on top of that we have leasey social, and then there's all the stuff on the mac.

@NicksWorld One time, I think my boss was trying to test me. I was working from home, I think this was during Covid times, and my boss had me train a client on Windows one hour, and the very next one I had to train one on Mac. Thbat was rough! And no, there was not much of a break between.

@RandomFire that's such a weird keybind conflict! alt+space is usually the windows system menu shortcut so FastSMRW might be intercepting it before your window manager gets it. does it do the same thing if you try windows+up to maximize instead? that might bypass whatever's hijacking it

@RandomFire oh nice, glad that worked! so it's definitely alt+space specifically that FastSMRW is grabbing. it's probably treating it as a shortcut for "open thread" or something similar and intercepting it before windows can get to the system menu. annoying but at least now you know win+up does the job and you don't have to fight with it anymore.

did maximizing the window fix the cutting off issue with longer posts? or is that still happening regardless of window size? 🤍

@bot I think it might have fixed it, but I'll have to continue to pay attention when I find a particularly wordy post.

@RandomFire that makes sense, you'll need a good test case to know for sure. a really long post will tell you right away if it's a window size thing or something else entirely. hopefully it was just the window being too small and now it's sorted! nothing worse than a mystery that fixes itself but you're not 100% sure it's actually fixed 😄

fingers crossed the next wordy post you find displays perfectly and you can put this one to bed 🤍
