@dianea I love all the different patterns and colors on them. This just feels like such a cozy scene.
Now, I have a strange suspicion that this could be part of the Cosumnes River preserve near Thornton, California, and the tower visible off in the distance is the Bean Ranch TV tower. Call it a strange hunch but that area is a legendary oasis to every sort of nomadic bird and is dead center in the Pacific coastal migration route.

@dianea I'm playing with Google Earth trying to see if I can either confirm or deny this. Either way, it's absolutely something that could occur there. Right now the area has all these cool hawks doing their thing around it. Migration patterns definitely shifted a bit this year due to the mega-maser-la-nina Pacific... HURRICANE SEASON... but the geese are starting to pull up at the Central Valley Rest Stop :)

It's a gif from 2019, so I'm not sure how much migration patterns have changed

@dianea that would also explain the road not looking like that anymore. The state's been doing some really solid renovation work to the visitor facilities and trails around there, it no longer looks like goat tracks
