My second-hand, 9-year-old OnePlus 5T died. Kaputt, c'est fini :(
My new phone came with the annoyances i was expecting:
- no 3.5 mm jack
- a hole in the middle of the screen
- the fingerprint sensor under the screen instead of a physical one on the back
- no notification LED
All hardware, so nothing i can do about them...except the LED.

Looking around i found HoleyLight by Chainfire https://github.com/Chainfire/HoleyLight but sadly it hasn't been updated in years and stopped working. There's an unofficial fork that works, but i'm not keen on running a random fork.
So...made my own: heavily inspired by HoleyLight, stripped down to the bare minimum. All i want is a single notification light on a screen that's otherwise off.

Tried the #FDroid route for the first time. Cumbersome, to say the least, but if it works for the team then "this is the way".
Sadly (but expectedly) an app has to be 3 months old to join the grown-ups, so I'll try again in 3 months.

It has only been tested on my own phone with #GrapheneOS and #Android 17, plus some emulators. It installs and should work on Android 12 and up though.

Thanks everyone for your feedback, debugging and suggestions, several made it in v0.2 :)
Features
- App filter: allow and ignore lists, other profiles included
- Pulse: blink length, burst and pause
- Enable/Disable switch
- Line thickness
- Do Not Disturb: respect or ignore
- Clearer status when the always-on display unknown (LCD screens)
Fixes
- animations let the CPU sleep when the display is off
- motion animations no longer fill the GPU cache
- settings from a backup can't crash the app
