To all men/masc/etc people: never forget that, when approached with intention and courage, balding presents a powerful opportunity to look cool as fuck

Meanwhile you can try it here, as an APK download or through #Obtainium:
https://github.com/7Ds7/AODLed

It has only been tested on my own phone with #GrapheneOS and #Android 17, plus some emulators. It installs and should work on Android 12 and up though.

Doesn't work for you, or have suggestions? Send them my way!

Tried the #FDroid route for the first time. Cumbersome, to say the least, but if it works for the team then "this is the way".

Sadly (but expectedly) an app has to be 3 months old to join the grown-ups, so I'll try again in 3 months.

Looking around i found HoleyLight by Chainfire https://github.com/Chainfire/HoleyLight but sadly it hasn't been updated in years and stopped working. There's an unofficial fork that works, but i'm not keen on running a random fork.

So...made my own: heavily inspired by HoleyLight, stripped down to the bare minimum. All i want is a single notification light on a screen that's otherwise off.

My second-hand, 9-year-old OnePlus 5T died. Kaputt, c'est fini :(

My new phone came with the annoyances i was expecting:
- no 3.5 mm jack
- a hole in the middle of the screen
- the fingerprint sensor under the screen instead of a physical one on the back
- no notification LED

All hardware, so nothing i can do about them...except the LED.

In Saint-Brévin near Nantes, France, a huge serpent rises from the sea near the Loire estuary. Completed in 2012 by Huang Yong Ping, Chinese-born French artist.

The sculpture is covered and uncovered at each tide: at low tide it is possible to walk around it, but only the head and the top of the vertebrae stick out at high tide. It is intended to be gradually invaded by vegetation and marine fauna ...

A Heltec V3 and a surplus 5000 mAH Li Poly in a compact cassette case. Slot for USB-C by drilling 3x holes. Two holes to access buttons. One hole for the SMA. Snapped off the spindle locks. Maybe aerial would have been better on the front face?
After about 10 hours the cell was still 75% yesterday.

Working on a new tab in #micropyhon #reticulum t-deck firmware. I'm adding an RRC client. So far the tests are looking good. Currently fixing bugs and design flaws. One thing I’ll omit intentionally - I’ll not add direct messages within RRC, as it’s kind of redundant if we already have LXMF messaging. What do you think?

The project is no more allegedly thanks to LLM weilding script kiddies...

Age Verification isn't a technical problem to solve. If you think that, you're missing the point.

It's a social problem used by authoritarian governments as an excuse for population control and censorship.

It's a fundamental attack on free speech and democracy.

It must not be accommodated.
It must be stopped.

Okay, here's where things seem to be at the moment, thanks for all the recommendations!

Fastmail - highly recommended, but US-based
Tuta - secure, but no IMAP support
Posteo - secure, green power, Germany
mailbox_org - German. Limits on POP3/email addresses.
Migadu.com - very DIY friendly, based in Switzerland, use on your own domains/unlimited email addresses
Hover.com

So, I am likely to go with Migadu, mostly because I am very DIY (used to host my own servers), have a bazillion domain names that need email (but with low email volumes); their service is volume-based. I will continue to maintain my other email accounts, but this allows me to carve off some of the important stuff into their own bucket and get them out of the maw of Google. It looks like Fastmail/Mailbox are good everyday options for most people, with Tuta and Posteo for the most privacy/security conscience (with negatives of not being able to use IMAP for Tuta).
