Spent an hour and a half driving—45 minutes each way—to work on a job out of town that was “ready for me.”

I had specifically told them on the phone, and marked it out on the floor, how they should frame it to work with what needed to happen.

Their “lead carpenter” didn’t think I knew what I was talking about, so he framed it his own way. It was wrong and won’t work.

    Grrrr.

I mean, sure…I will bill them $180 for the wasted trip. But that’s time I’ll never get back, over one person’s pride.

I know! I *suspect* it was kinda age-ism, because I look like I’m about 20 and so he didn’t want to “take orders” from a kid. He’s been doing carpentry for 30 years, he’s probably about 60. I hadn’t worked with this contractor before, so we never discussed how old I am or how long I’ve been doing plumbing.

Contractor told me he had a lot of work he’d like me to do for him from now on if this job goes well. I believe I’ll be passing on that, I got my own thing going. :-D
