often in books, I'll read a bit where a character who's been through the ringer has a shower and will “let the water cascade over them, letting the heat wash away the pressure of the day” or “feel the release as the heat slowly un-knots tense muscles” and i have never had an experience anywhere near it.
i'm in there, screaming “IT'S NOT WORKING! I STILL FEEL SHIIIIT!!!” for three minutes or less, then i’m out, because i grew up during water rationing and it fucked me up in ways i am only just beginning to realise
