Last night’s cocktail, because I went to the website for this gin a few days ago and found this recipe. Sweet Gwendoline has fig flavors and is finished with French white wine. Despite this, the “gin flavor” was still pretty forward. I made this on a whim and did not have a fresh fig for garnish which I would definitely prepare for next time to emphasize the fruitiness.

I used to drink very few martinis but my appreciation and understanding of them is growing.

@consumablejoy I bought a tiny cabinet for my kitchen that I keep nothing but dried fruit and nuts in. Some I've purchased but a lot I've dehydrated at home and keep in vacuum seal bags. It's convenient for baking and really great for cocktails. Sometimes I don't have the exact garnish a recipe calls for but I always have something that's appropriate to the mix. Maybe you could fix up a little box for this purpose? The dried stuff lasts longer and gets rehydrated by the cocktail.

@consumablejoy Fresh figs are extremely difficult to find, even when they are in season. Trader Joe's usually has them in August and September. I buy pounds of them when I see them; fresh figs are my favorite fruit.
