    @jensimmons whoa! Is this real life!? Very excited to see this 🎉

    Do you know if there are any plans for adding a PWA as an app via Safari on macOS the way Chrome does?

    @jensimmons I hope you folks will reconsider limiting web push to home screen web apps. I work in news and can see tons of useful, non-spammy, opt-in uses for web push in news ("Hey that hurricane that was headed toward you just changed it's path"), but requiring the user to install the web app is a really high bar that's going to require a lot of user training.

    @jensimmons As web push is only available for added to home screen web apps, is there any plan to improve the UI/UX to add to home screen?
    Badging is a great addition too, thanks for that.

    @jensimmons I was just finishing the server side implementation of web-push in our CMS. We have been waiting for this for years.

    @naton The module for our CMS is in Erlang.

    I don't know if it is any use to you. I've tested it with Google and Firefox endpoints. My laptop still has to be upgraded to Ventura, so I can at try it out with an Apple end-point server.

    You also need to setup a service worker which will handle the messages when they arrive of course.

    @maas Thanks, yes, I think I'm able to figure out the SW parts, and JS too. It's the pushing parts I never understood. But seems like Autopush is a complete product for this? That has an API you call from your CMS, is that right?

    @naton

    Mozilla's whole end-point implementation is open-source I think.

    I mainly used the docs here to be able to encrypt the messages and send them to the end-points and handle the responses of the end-points correctly.

    I can see why a server-side product/library pushing messages would be useful. 🙂

    @maas Haha, yeah. It's either "roll your own, using Rust" or "cloud based SAAS, pay per user".. Where's the framework solution for [my platform] that I can just download? :D

    @naton They are probably being implemented right now, after this announcement. 🙂

    It was on our todo list for a long time. It became a priority, because we wanted notifications in the Android PWA app we are building right now. (We already made the iOS pwa shell app)

    @naton No indeed, that is only the sending part. The storage of the client subscriptions is very application dependent. We have an identity table which stores them, they are tied to the user accounts, but YMMV.

    @jensimmons hey! great news! one small thing I’d love is to be able to add Web Apps to my App Library instead of my Home Screen. I don’t need them taking up so much real estate.

    @jensimmons it’s really fantastic to see this finally come to Safari. It’s already working great on my app! Is there any plans to support the in-notification interactions that the web push api offers?
