Kaiser Permanente sent my health records to my new primary care physician on a CD. New doctor doesn't have the hardware to deal with that. 🙄

So now I guess I have to find a computer somewhere that has a CD drive so I can save the files onto a thumb drive so my doctor office can actually access them.
This is so stupid.
Seems like someone in the IT department at work should be able to help. You'd think. Maybe.
@APBBlue get thee to the liberry
@autolycos I dunno -- do they have tech that old?
@APBBlue they have books, that's pretty old tech
@ebooksyearn @LhasaCM There's probably three in D.C. that just get passed around, lol
@APBBlue @ebooksyearn That estimate is way too low; I have at least 3 myself. (And a USB floppy drive.)
@APBBlue @ebooksyearn But as Jon said (well at least *implied*) - always happy to lend out anything I have.
@LhasaCM @ebooksyearn going to check in with my org's IT department, but I will keep your generous offer in mind! 😀
@APBBlue I've got three CD drives. Ya need one?
@DarkAthena I think the only thing we own anymore that can play a disc is our BluRay player, and that won't help with medical records. 😂
@APBBlue I have an extra LG DVD burner that hooks up to a computer. I'm happ to send it your way if you need. LMK
@DarkAthena I appreciate that! I'm going to check in with my IT department -- I'm thinking they probably have one.
@APBBlue LMK. I'm happy to send it to you if you need.
@APBBlue Healthcare IT is THE WORST IT.
@APBBlue oh FFS thats ridiculous they don't know how to deal with that.
you can get an external USB cd/dvd drive for like $25 bucks delivered nowadays.
@rockmastermike @APBBlue CD drives are a rarity now?!
Ffs I even got a USB connected 3½" floppy disk drive so I could see what was on all the disks I have.
@rockmastermike @APBBlue I don't understand why the doc office wouldn't have one!!
@rockmastermike @SRDas @APBBlue my office does not
I just dealt with this 2 weeks ago
@autolycos @rockmastermike @SRDas Well neither does mine, apparently!
@SRDas @rockmastermike Me neither.
@APBBlue Did they not have a fax machine/modem setup?
@Michigander ::screeching sound::
@APBBlue “You’ve got mail!”
@Michigander that used to be exciting, lol
@Michigander @APBBlue Fax was also where my mind went. I’m convinced healthcare and Japan solely support that industry’s survival.
@Michigander @APBBlue
I was told by my dr’s office mgr that they continue to use fax because (they believe) it’s more secure than digital communication. 🤷🏽
@APBBlue I had a zip file of 31MB of medical records(over 30 years) when my doctor retired and I was forced to move to Kaiser. They told me to print it out (450 pages) and mail it to a their records department to be scanned. Hell to the no.
@patmikemid omfg
@APBBlue Then my new primary care doc told me it didn’t matter because he’d never look at more than the last two years anyway. I’ve had some shit happen prior to two years ago.
@APBBlue what.
