    #AmateurRadio #ARRL

Hey former ARRL members, looks like ARRL is sending a survey to former members for insight to why they're no longer members.

I plan to fill out this survey and let them know that the current president and board don't have my trust to be good stewards of the main national organization for our hobby, stifling dissenting opinions within the organization, and their rejection of calls to support diversity within the hobby.

(Edit: Zero judgement of current members or many folks in local/section volunteer roles. I just didn't think my annual membership was worth it given the problems at the top.)

Dear (my name and call sign redacted)

ARRL is committed to serving the needs of our members and the wider amateur radio community. To help us do that, we’re reaching out to former members to better understand why they may not have renewed their membership and how ARRL can improve.

We’ve asked Readex Research, an independent research company, to conduct a short survey on our behalf.

Please watch for an email from Readex Research this week. The survey will take only a few minutes to complete, and your feedback will be very valuable in helping us improve ARRL membership.

In appreciation of your time, you may be eligible to enter a drawing at the end of the survey for a chance to receive one of two $100 Visa gift cards. See the Official Drawing Rules on the survey website for full details.

Thank you for helping us make ARRl better!

If you have already renewed your membership, thank you! Please disregard the survey.

Sincerely,

ARRL The National Association for Amateur Radio®

Hint: a free HAM euro-oval bumper sticker with "ARRL member" in tiny text isn't going to get me back.

@IrrationalMethod I just got this too, thanks for telling me! I was wondering why I hadn't seen it and it had gone to spam. I will make sure I fill this out.

@IrrationalMethod They are asking the questions, but do they really want to know the answers? Will they take action to undo the political, financial, and strategic blunders they have made over the past 3 decades? A survey alone does not create transformation. Action and ego free leadership can. @NA4RO

    @CoolerPseudonym

Honestly, I wouldn't tell you not to, even knowing who they are. The org has a lot of potential to do better, and a lot of good members/leaders at lower levels. But the board/president are pretty rotten.

I was a lapsed member for at least a decade, rejoined for a single year in 2023, mostly so I could find reviews of newer transceivers in back issues of QST.

Happy to follow up with some links to specifics of why I'm dissatisfied with them.

@IrrationalMethod @CoolerPseudonym Another vote saying that would be appreciated. Mine lapsed at some point. I got this email, haven't clicked it, and don't really have a strong reason to either renew or not. The CC I had set up for billing expired and I guess I didn't notice. Curious what the reasons are why people aren't renewing or are renewing.
