    Will I ever get over the loss of JoAnns? I just bought 2 yards of pattern paper at G Street fabrics for the same price as a 10 yd bolt from Wawak. I guess I can't afford spontaneity

    @thathackergirl For me, it's when I have to match anything, like thread, zippers, buttons.

    @kamikat @thathackergirl yes! This 💯 I most strongly miss the thread and zippers. If I’m patient I can order a swatch and wait. But I can’t order a swatch of thread or zipper.

    @kamikat this has been a constant lament in our household since it happened. society should never have let it get down to effectively one brick & mortar sewing store chain in the first place.

    @LikeItOrLumpIt We don't even have Hobby Lobby. It's the same story as everything else: got bought by private equity, then run into the ground. I worked at Hancock when it started going under and they had serious business practice/HR issues. That was all mismanagement.

    Buying fabric online too, is so crappy. I want to feel it.

    I'm affected even though I don't sew all that much. I can't imagine how you must feel.

    You're lucky for that. HL is to be avoided if at all possible.

    I miss Beverly's. Even when it was "cheaper online" I still bought fabric/accessories in person because it matters.
    Now I but it wherever I can find it, but I sew less because of it.

    @kamikat I embarrassed my teenager when I discovered my local Michael's is doubling the size of their fabric section, especially the notions section. A real selection of interfacings!

    I rarely used Joann's for fabric but I used them all the time for notions. It's loss was hard to take.

    @sewblue My Michael's selection is laughable. They shrunk the yarn selection so they could add tons of fat quarters. The only bolts are poor quality licensed character poly cottons.

    @kamikat mine hadn't put the fabric out yet, but had moved the yarn. Initially they had 2 isles of quilting fabrics but are expanding to 4. Maybe 5?

    I saw glimmers of some apparel fabric though, but cheap poly stuff.

    @sewblue @kamikat Agreed, the fabric at mine was also bleak and the only thread I saw was Coats & Clark. I hope they step up their game.
