Sep 23, 2026, 11:18 PM@grammasaurus When I lived in the UK, I had a mortgage in the US with Wells Fargo. One year I had an overage in my escrow that they wanted to refund. One cent.
They printed a check for $0.01 and posted it international first class mail (about $1.00 at the time). When it arrived at my house in London, I tried to use the Wells Fargo mobile retail banking app to deposit a $0.01 check sent to me by Wells Fargo Mortgage. It would not accept the check.
I don’t know whether it was a strange form factor (I remember the check being unusually long and thin) or whether they would not process a check for one cent. I have a photo of the check somewhere. I wonder how many dollars could have been saved by crediting one cent to my principal balance.

I’ll try to deposit this check, because we can’t have the state’s finances thrown off by a few pennies, can we? 🤣
