A friend is in Philadelphia for the #NoKings march/rally. She said anyone who is registered to vote in Pennsylvania can vote early at city center today.

As I framed this photo I realized it shows fall in all phases: green trees, starting to change color, full #fallcolors, and leaves already fallen

This does not bode well for any of us.

At the Tour de Bronx yesterday I noticed that a bike next to me seemed to be missing a limb. Actually it was half of a fork that wasn’t there. The rider it belongs to said, “Cannondale has done this for years, it’s called A Lefty”. He told me this was done to save weight. (insert eyeroll here)

And then I wondered: how many other “body parts” can be removed from a bike and it still works just fine?

(edited to include the photo I forgot in the first draft)

context: these so-called professional protestors are people who observed ICE in Maine during “operation daily catch”—their lawsuit against ICE alleges their 1A rights were thoroughly trampled. (surprise, surprise)

Oh, and our favorite company, Palantir, might be involved.

new reporting from WIRED is especially chilling

“Agent J.C” created [Investigative Case Management] ICM records on at least 6 observers; the govt puts the number of people at 8. He labeled 2 people he filmed at a Home Depot parking lot with “Threat to Law Enforcement, **Professional Protestor,” according to the filing, and sent photos of them and others to a US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer so he could run a facial recognition search on them using an app called Mobile Query.**

a wee green frog, about the size of my thumbnail. I have no idea how it got onto this window divider, at least 18” off the ground.

Does anyone wonder why #misogyny is rampant?

Who do you think said this?

“[n]o fatties, no trannies, no beardos, no weirdos, no wimps, no radicals. Just warriors.”
“The ideological clowns are out,” he said. “The patriotic cowboys are in, with testosterone testing on top.”

I’ve moved several times in the last dozen years, and downsized a LOT, but never got rid of the Christmas ornaments, even though I don’t really decorate anymore, it’s too much work. But I couldn’t bear to part with the stuff my kids made when they were tykes, or the oddities I found on my travels.
Today my oldest daughter texted me that she thinks all their Christmas stuff got lost in their move last month—help!
So I sent her a video of my stash….all good.

just now at the dr’s office I was told that Medicare doesn’t cover a tetanus shot given at the office. The dr said, “but she cut her finger!” and the admin said, “sorry, they won’t cover it, she’d have to go to a pharmacy or urgent care for it to be covered.”

I found out at the last visit that an in-office shingles shot isn’t covered either. At a pharmacy it’s half-price, but still expensive (over $300 per shot, and you need two)

When I was a teenager I sewed most of my own clothes. Lately not so much. But this evening I put a new waistband and new elastic in my pajamas, and now I’m pretty sure the Royal Academy of Stitcher-Uppers is going to give me an award. /s

My favorite part:

“We asked people to come out, learn about this technology, ask hard questions and tell us what they thought. They did exactly that. **We cannot ask the public to participate in the process and then disregard what they tell us. **As elected officials, we work for the people of Dutchess County. Being responsive to them is not optional.”

Here’s the press release from the DAs office and the sheriff

I just signed up for next week’s Tour de Bronx, a FREE cycling event that takes riders all over the borough.

Breaking news: after several public hearings and hundreds of public comments, my county has decided to stop using Flock cameras. They are to be turned off today and probably dismantled within the next 30 days.

two days ago at the local hardware store, the woman working there told me the screw I was trying to remove to take down an old shelf needed a star bit (I knew it wasn’t a phillips head or a flathead screw).

Huh. Star bit

Now I keep finding other screws in my house to use it on.

Weird how that works!

Feeling a little overwhelmed by the check I got in the mail from NY Dept of Taxation…..(drumroll please!)

$1.11

I know! I know! Don’t spend it all in one place!
