This is one of my all-time favourite images. It was taken as we were sailing slowly into Isafjordur, in Iceland. Originally taken in colour (it does look rather lovely in colour!), I wondered what it might look like in monochrome.
I have to say that I like this version even more. There’s something about the clouds and the boat that just pulls everything together.

I think I solved a really big part of a puzzle tonight. By accident of course.
I've been working on a project for the last two years, on and off. Mostly off. I think I can see a path forward to stepping back into that space without losing my sanity. I think I can see what I need to do for that project to reach its conclusion.
Sometimes just stepping away from a problem and getting a few months worth of distance is a better way to open the door than trying to bash it with a sledge hammer.

I am not a massive baseball fan, but a small-market rust-belt team destroying the mighty LA Dodgers, two-time champions who actually went and bent the knee to Donald Trump, and that rust-belt team's superstar giving a postgame interview where his teammate cheerfully translates his Spanish-language joy and analysis to an audience composed of, roughly, 33% racist Dogpatch xenophobes seething at every word he says - seems like a win for fucking EVERYone.

Thin Layer Of Life (2026)
(I love scenes like this, exposing just how thin and fragile this carpet of life is in the high mountains, considering the ages/centuries, the obstacles it took to overcome and the relationships needing to form for this varied life to get and retain its temporary foothold here... It's inspiring and very symbolic to me)

I don't want to say Australian students should riot in the streets for better education funding.
I'm just noting that so far the lack of riots has not resulted in a well-funded public education system.
My best friend's contractor didn't show for work yesterday.
Last night, his brother showed up and knocked on his door.
"My brother was picked up by ICE at his immigration hearing. When he called me, he told me to come to your house and finish the job." They gave him money and told him to go home.
My friend found a lawyer for the contractor last night, but as he said, "I'm not sure if I'm more shaken as an American or as a Jew."
We have to end this nightmare.

I've been using the service at Magic Pages since early this year for my own newsletters, and it's been super low stress. Has really made my life better. Learning how to carve up templates in Ghost to achieve the creative endpoint you want is maybe the hardest part for me.
