Which feels right to you?

To be honest ive never understood why theyre called LA Dodgers, I mean its a team full of men, shouldn't it be Le Dodgers?

Given the option to stay in high school or switch to independent study and take PCC classes and graduate next summer the answer was 100% clear to him... switch. So I will contact the CIS people and get him switched next semester. He uploaded the paperwork yo register for Winter session classes (English and world history). His big issue will be getting registered in the classes he wants. His reg date will be mid Nov.

Kid gave a report on his day auditing courses at PCC. Philosophy class really sparked his interest and he apparently even participated in class, got up and drew a diagram on the board... etc. Teacher was enjoying having him...

Psych class must have been moved to a different classroom because noone showed up at all... Microecon was kinda a bust for him... English class seemed good maybe not his favorite topic in this section but the format was good

Y'all I do data analysis and mathematical modeling. It's been 20 years since I hacked on the Linux Kernel and that was only some minor bug fixing in one particular driver...

So, I'm asking those of you who are more low level types. What would it take to take something like L4, and then rip out specific Linux kernel code for things like filesystems and such, put them into their own user-space daemon, and hook them up to the microkernel? So you could have for example btrfs, xfs, nftables...

Holy shit y'all I'm bawling... A kid in his first period class went into a diabetic siezure and my kid restrained him from hurting himself, rolled him onto his side into a rescue position and stayed with him until the paramedics arrived.

None of this is wrong, but we still need to move forward in life and seek out beauty, knowledge, autonomy, truth, joy, music, cooperation... And I just dont know how to explain all of that to a 15 year old. most people really never even understand what hes already figured out. i literally said this about school in the parent group chat and one of the parents said something like "wow, I had never thought of that"

My younger kid has realized that school is at least in part, a prison where kids are kept so parents can be farmed by capitalists, and that the grading, testing, major, and degree system serves to normalize and perpetuate hierarchies of importance among people. Also that many people have no interest in the knowledge and only care about the signifiers of status.

Send help.

2 AM my son comes into my room to tell me that all the UPSes are screaming. Power is out. I report the outage, shut down some devices, and mute the alarms. By 4am the power comes on for 3 seconds... then goes off... Power company reports power is restored... so I report the outage again... i would like to be sleeping.

My wife sent me that video, finally someone who is teaching the secret about modern music (ie. music since the 1700's or so). It's a scale that's uniform distances on a logarithmic scale for frequency (that is, every note is 2^(1/12) ~ 1.05946 times the frequency of the previous one).

The piano keyboard absolutely shatters the symmetry... You can get that symmetry back by creating a uniform keyboard:

Also, no, there was not any message on the portal, and when you call the scheduling number the caller gave me they say that they really have no idea why you were called but if you'd like to make an appointment of some kind theyre happy to help.

so, incompetence all around.

I get a call from what is probably my medical provider (the USC mafia) and the person says "Hi this is soandso from scheduling with USC can you please give me your name and birth date so I can proceed?"

HONEY NO

That is not how this shit works.

How about: this is USC calling with a notification that a secure message has been sent can you please log in to the patient portal to view it.

Because I'd have to be a moron to give out personal info to whoever just called me out of the blue... wtf!

How do people with Corgis keep from getting a second dog and naming it Bess?

A sphincter says what?

Yunohost is there to handle things like forgejo, ghost, a simpleX server, or whatever, things that you want to use to collaborate online as web services.

My understanding is guix has incus as a package, and yunohost has an incus container available

https://repo.yunohost.org/incus/

So, for those who are experts in #incus or #yunohost or #guix, what's the quickest way to working Incus on guix so I can make Yunohost work in a container?

All right #guix peeps, I know i'm kinda taking the hard route here. I could have just put #Proxmox on my under-desk server, been up and running months ago after a lot of pointing and clicking. I decided not to do that, in part because I don't want just one #anarchistuniversity server, I want other people to be able to set them up themselves, with encrypted volumes and things. So guix makes it easier to get that going, but the next step is to run Yunohost in a container on guix.

YAAAAAS!!!!

#guix peeps. My #anarchistuniversity server is ONLINE with its strange stack of LVM + Cache + LUKS + btrfs raid.

The workaround was to create a shepherd service which depends on user-processes which simply does vgchange and cryptsetup manually at a later time. Then make /mnt/home depend on that shepherd process and guix can mount this home directory volume. It's a bit hacky but it lets me move on to working on the next problem of getting a container set up to run Yunohost.

There is essentially no fragrance here, it's got a slight natural witch hazel extract fragrance, and slightly canola oil, very slightly because I only put a dash, like maybe 1ml. It emulsifies to produce a slightly slippery emulsion in your hands. Shake well before using. You could add a few drops of some stuff to give a fragrance if you cared. Sandalwood, or bay leaf or rose extract or whatever. Standard warning about being kind to other people and fragrances applies.

My "recipe" for homemade aftershave:

Mostly 70% isopropanol
Next mostly Dickenson's alcohol free Witch Hazel extract
A dash of canola oil
A dash of glycerine
if you've got it a few drops of vit E oil

Put in a dash-bottle such as an old Peychaud's bitters bottle with old timey label.

Dash onto hands and rub onto face after shaving.

dilute with witch hazel until it's "comfortable", isopropanol concentration isn't critical but I'd guess I get it to about 50% or so

9AM and 95F in the shade here in Pasadena. Got boys out the door with their mom, but too hot to walk the dogs already... gonna be a long day.
