I have a hard time not boosting everything that Sean Goedecke writes, but this is another great one.

Another variant of this mistake is thinking "Microsoft did X" or "Apple did X" while assuming that each company is some kind of Borg-like superstructure that thinks with one mind. This is so far from the truth if you've actually worked inside a big tech company that it's laughable.
IME every company is at war with itself and you can find fiefdoms, alliances, rebellions, etc. It would be like thinking that New York City or Switzerland thinks with one mind.
@nolan thanks for sharing it, I really like Goedecke's posts about legibility and software. I think a similar argument could be made about an individual person's actions. If you really understand the complexity of the human body, and its material conditions, can you still say it acts with agency, intent and free will?
@nolan It's also a good idea not to anthropomorphize big tech CEOs. 😉
@nolan I couldn't not notice how "the lawnmower doesn't give a shit about you" is anthropomorphizing. 🙃
