“For example, [Rivian founder and CEO] Scaringe said, a driver could ask the Rivian assistant to turn on the ventilated seats before going deeper. “And then simultaneously say, ‘We were talking yesterday about this meal. I’m planning to have guests over on Friday. Can you help me think through what we’re going to make?’,” he said. The car could then pull the driver’s context from a conversation they had with the assistant on another device.”

First of all, if you need to *talk* to an #AI agent to turn on your ventilated seats instead of, you know, pushing a button, you need to hire some UX designers.

Second of all, nobody—ABSOLUTELY NOBODY—is going to ask their CAR how to plan for dinner guests.

@drahardja It's sad that by the time we're ready to buy an EV they all going to be run by touch screens and AI, while selling every bit of info they can gather about you to advertising companies.

@drahardja In the context of having to speak to my car to turn on the seats, I'm thinking of how my kids ask their watches to set timers. I still have several of these.

A cheap LCD digital kitchen timer, held in a human hand. There is a computer keyboard and desk clutter in the background.

@drahardja I have mostly good things to say about my R2, but their “AI will solve all UX problems” take is one negative, and having to use a touchscreen to control the HVAC is another.

@drahardja Stop messing with infotainment that will be outdated in a month. Just let the customer slap their phone on the dash and have wireless do the rest. While you're at it think really hard about this. Why is there a UI at all? We didn't ask for it. We don't want it. We want a switch or a knob to adjust the damn heated seats. AND DONT MAKE THAT A SUNSCRIPTION! That is the only justification for a UI so you can ask for a credit card number and we don't view it positively.
