Do you understand that people designed, printed, hosted and delivered things for hundreds of years before "AI" was involved? And that even now "AI" is nowhere near being involved in most things? I ain't typing this from AI-maintained software or AI-backed web services, I can tell you that.

@Gargron @fname I get that everything you can control is as AI-free as possible - and that’s a valid and laudable position - but pretending “I don’t use anything with AI” is head-in-the-sand logic.
Do you use a phone powered by Apple or Android? Does your ISP optimize routing with AI? Is your OS AI-free? Have you audited the thousands of Node packages lurking on your computer for open-source code submitted by someone using an LLM?
My world view is “pragmatic and realistic”, not “pro-AI”.

@jimmylittle @fname I don't know what Apple or my ISP do internally, but I can guarantee you I've used them before any "AI" existed and do not want it anywhere near anything I am using. If it's there, it's against my will and not to my benefit. The idea that "AI" is prevalent (or inevitable) is somewhere between marketing and a US tech bubble.

@dheadshot @jimmylittle @fname That’s false, yes, although the policy is written less clearly than I would like. Keep in mind I’m not in charge anymore.
