What do you want us to work on in 2027?
Here's a web app where you can rank the Interop proposals you care about, giving us data we can use to prioritise feature development.

Here's a web app where you can rank the Interop proposals you care about, giving us data we can use to prioritise feature development.
We ran this last year to decide what to champion for Interop 2026, but the data was so good, we also used it to prioritise features beyond the Interop project.
We've also added some features to make it quicker to rank items.
@firefoxwebdevs the "Help me order these" feature is a game changer! The whole thing is a delight to use. Well done, @jaffathecake !
@vrugtehagel @jaffathecake that's great to hear!
@firefoxwebdevs no webgpu? :(
@nelson seems like no one proposed it as a focus area 😭
@firefoxwebdevs Firefox. we want you to work on Firefox
@firefoxwebdevs start with something other than "sign in with GitHub".
@coldclimate what login system would you have preferred? The Interop project (and most other web standards work) is GitHub-based. I looked at other options, but nothing seemed particularly better.
@firefoxwebdevs @coldclimate Persona, obviously.
@VincentTunru @coldclimate well, I walked into that one
@firefoxwebdevs @VincentTunru @coldclimate
The above post is by far the best PR statement I've seen from Mozilla in years.
@firefoxwebdevs valid point. Does it actually need a login system? Would a email+magic link setup work?
@coldclimate it would require setting up an email service provider, and feels like it would be easy for someone to generate lots of 'accounts' to skew the rankings.
Isn't that true for GitHub, too? (Honest question; I haven't been on github, since it was bought by ms.)
@till @coldclimate I don't think so. To create a new GitHub account you need to set up a username & password, and probably some extra stuff beyond that.
Whereas, for instance, all emails to *@jakearchibald.com go to me, and would look like different accounts.
@firefoxwebdevs true true.
Would this be an option?
@firefoxwebdevs I have rethought my reply. Gan on son, use whatever works. I'm not GH biggest fan these days, but 99% of people who are going to answer, will have an account
@coldclimate eh, fedi login might be an option. I'll keep looking into it.
@firefoxwebdevs Why do you care about which resources I can access?
@alfonsoml hmm, this seems like bad wording on GitHub's part https://docs.github.com/en/apps/using-github-apps/authorizing-github-apps
> When authorized, the GitHub App will be able to determine which resources you can access that the app can also access.
The 'app' is used for login only. It has no access to resources.
@kumicota we have a proposal for this, which we think is better than the Chrome API, and we're meeting with cross-browser folks next month to discuss it.
https://github.com/mozilla/explainers/blob/main/translation.md
@firefoxwebdevs Firefox translation API proposal looks nice and simple to use. It would make it much simpler to build international services, considering most of the planet is from non-English countries.
@firefoxwebdevs I ranked things, and there's lots of good ideas, but the #1 thing I would like you to work on is removing AI and reducing resource usage.
@firefoxwebdevs
Please make it possible to place bookmarks in specific bookmark folders when you first create that bookmark. That was the situation until earlier this year.
Now, to place a new bookmark in a specific place, it's necessary to go back to it and quickly edit the bookmark. This is an unnecessary distraction.
Also, let us know when VPN will be operational throughout all of the intended countries.
@firefoxwebdevs is “anything as long as it’s not using AI” a valid answer?
@BartV which of the proposals looks AI related?
@firefoxwebdevs @BartV so there no proposal of removing AI from Firefox completely?! 🫤
That isn't a cross browser web platform feature
To be clear, when a web platform AI feature did come up, we strongly opposed it https://mastodon.social/@firefoxwebdevs/116596047398274704
@firefoxwebdevs I have no idea, but looking at your track record, your management will find a way to shove it down our throats.
@BartV take a look through the proposals. Let me know if you find an AI one and I'll do something about it. I don't see one personally.
@firefoxwebdevs This might need a little <noscript> section, because with NoScript and adbllockers turned on (which is the only sane, and safe, way to browse the web =) this is a blank page.
@firefoxwebdevs@mastodon.social I don't see wide gamut support for Linux or HDR image support for Linux.
@KitsuneVixi no one proposed it. Look out for the proposal window next time. Fwiw we (and other browsers) posted about it at the time: https://mastodon.social/@firefoxwebdevs/117208074796161876
@firefoxwebdevs removing AI.
@firefoxwebdevs I don’t see MHTML support anywhere in this list. Surely it’s a mistake :blob_cat:?
@Sylvhem no one proposed it. Also, I'm not sure there are good tests for this.
@firefoxwebdevs Here is my list 👀
@firefoxwebdevs What is fxdx.dev?? It's not a mozilla.com or firefox.com domain - looks like a scam to me.
No, wait, in this timeline even supposedly user-focussed internet organisations are happy to teach users that domains don't mean anything, and that microsoft-account-recovery.com could very well be legit, because that's what even the orgs that are on their side do.
I guess we should stop even trying to get users to see if links look plausible, because there really is no way to tell.
smh
@aspragg it's absolutely not a scam. We ran it as a last-minute experiment last year, and it was hosted on a subdomain of jakearchibald.com (who runs this account).
This year, it's less of an experiment, so we used the "Firefox developer experience" domain, which has been running since 2023.
We might make it more official next year. Or maybe not. We'll see how it goes.
Either way, don't give it your credit card details.
@firefoxwebdevs Ooooh WebUSB is on the table?! 😍
(Probably behind the pseudo-addon mechanism also used with WebSerial and WebMidi – I still think it's overly cautious, but I don't mind given how easy it is to use.)
@chrysn @firefoxwebdevs oh that would be huge, could finally remove the Chrome dependency for stuff like customizing keyboards and flashing microcontrollers
@aburka @firefoxwebdevs I've somehow started to make peace with going through serial even though Proper USB would make more sense (esp. since some bootloaders already do UART rather than the USB DFU protocol that was explicitly designed for that purpose), but if I don't have to, all the better.
