GreenSkyOverMe (Monika)GreenSkyOverMe@ohai.socialOct 7, 2026, 2:12 PM@eniko I'm not sure what half again as much means. On Itch you get more or less in comparison to Steam?
Aoi_X_KaizakiAoi_X_Kaizaki@mastodon.socialOct 7, 2026, 2:37 PMI'm assuming the person means you get less on itch compared to Steam, but I don't have a Steam account.

It means Steam takes more from each purchase. So buying on Itch is better for the devs
Cassandrichdalias@hachyderm.ioOct 7, 2026, 2:50 PM@Aoi_X_Kaizaki @GreenSkyOverMe Game devs get roughly 1.5x as much when you buy on Itch vs Steam. Itch is far better for everyone. Only use Steam if you have to.

@Aoi_X_Kaizaki @GreenSkyOverMe Buying on Itch also means you actually own your copy of the game. You don't need to be logged in to Steam and have the launcher open to play, and you aren't forced to download gigantic updates before you can play a game you already bought and downloaded.

Oh. Thanks for the clearing.
That's why reading was my weakness at school. I seem to have not understood at all. If you read something and I read the same thing, I would have come to different understanding.

@Aoi_X_Kaizaki I think the confusing wording was "half again". It means roughly "the same base amount plus half of that added on top", i.e. 1.5x

@GreenSkyOverMe as in every sale on itch is worth 150% as much money to us as steam
lil_cupcakelil_cupcake@hachyderm.ioOct 7, 2026, 3:29 PM@eniko My favourite thing is buying a game on steam, realizing it's also on itch, then refunding and buying it on itch.
Or just buying it again on itch because y'all deserve it.

Oct 7, 2026, 5:11 PM@eniko I tried to buy it with 4 different credit cards. All were declined. It's been a long time since I bought anything from itch. Is this a common thing?

@loke uhh not that i know of? do you want me to boost your post to see if anyone else can weigh in?
- Oct 7, 2026, 11:24 PM
@eniko no worries. I'll try again tonight.
四yon@sakurajima.moeOct 7, 2026, 5:56 PM@eniko When you post about your games, do you post the itch link first?
