I didn’t have much time today and also at first I tried something more complicated and it was a disaster. (I have 36 regular acrylic markers, 12 pastel, and 12 metallic, and absolutely zero idea how any of them work together.)
So my first entry for #inktober2026 is childishly simple. Most of the others probably will be too. Nevertheless:

Day 2 of #inktober2026: Near miss on the sizes of the screen and the scroll wheel, and I’m not sure what happened with the weird texture areas at right and bottom-right. 😅
Also, did you know acrylic markers bleed on wood and the combination is not suitable for detailed work? 🤔
On the other hand, one internet point to the first person to reply with the name of the album.

Cactus. #Inktober
Is it perfect? No. Am I satisfied with it? No, I already know a number of things I’d do differently if I did it again.
But I don’t hate it, AND I learned something making it, AND making this one made me want to make better ones. I’m calling this one a win.
Day 5 of #inktober2026:
Smack. #Inktober
Bonus: I tried doing a simpler version that captured the slightly Haring-esque aspects of the stick figure and the handprint, but I overdid the flatness of the fingertips (which was mostly unintentional in the first one) and I don’t like the finger spacing as much, even though the fingers are more regular.
Also, I just kind of like the messiness of the first try? That’s a new feeling. But something about that feels more like "art" to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Belated day 6 of #inktober2026. Running a day behind, feeling very tired, and I truly had no ideas in my head that weren’t Shrek.
All the same: ogre.

@jwisser The format is also GREAT. You have a defined canvas so it helps constrain things and keep you focused. Plus when you’re done you’re gonna have a pretty sweet hexagonal mosaic of Inktober. So good!
@gedeonm I was leaning toward trying to do Inktober yesterday, and I picked up a new fountain pen with the idea of trying to use that. But then when I was looking for a notebook to use, I ran across the hexes and markers and… 💡!

@jwisser I like the flatness of these fingers better personally, more stylized, more distinct. This is great.

I’m not sure "make a magic-lookin’ circle" really aligns with the intent of Inktober, but it’s what I felt like doing today so ✌️.

This one is lazier and lower-quality than I’d like. Also I don’t want to talk about the orientation and placement of the words.
