Sep 24, 2026, 7:43 AMRemember how I said I wasn't doing a talk at Blendercon?
I am a little tired today, as I signed myself up for an open slot of the lightning talks yesterday morning, and so I was busy setting up a talk till 2am.
But, I think it's looking great. Don't worry about it!
Sep 24, 2026, 7:53 AM@RYStorm I’ll be providing the feedback service I provide, in real time from the audience…
Sep 24, 2026, 9:06 AMStarting off day 2 of Blendercon with a whole bunch of rendering
Sep 24, 2026, 9:58 AMA lot of this is about “8D Gaussian splats”, and tbh I really dislike the term “8D”, as really it’s just 3D that you can then scrub through. 4D would be fine!
So you film stuff with real actors, in real sets, generate a splat from that, and then you can relight it, change camera angles, etc.
Sep 24, 2026, 10:06 AMHad a conversation afterwards where I was shown an editor I had not heard of before: Rayon. Used for architectural CAD drawing.
I always love seeing editors I’ve never heard of before. This one has really neat placement tools, grid alignment systems at angles, and more!
Great snapping too!
Sep 24, 2026, 12:20 PMBlendercon is so good
Sep 24, 2026, 12:21 PMNow I am seeing a talk purely about mouth shapes. Truly Blendercon has whatever detail you are looking for.
Sep 24, 2026, 12:22 PMOr the talk will give you nightmares. It could go either way.
Sep 24, 2026, 12:35 PMNext, Obride Deki talking about how he made an interactive action figure, operated by remote control, designed with polygons, CAD, and electronics, in Blender and SolidWorks.
Sep 24, 2026, 12:50 PMDid you know the talks at Blendercon are all recorded and go online minutes after they are presented? It is the most efficient video process I have ever seen at any conference!
Here is the best talk I have seen so far, with a functional Playdate in Blender https://youtu.be/qZz9uG96Xk4?si=v4kToopa0k_EbvN9
Sep 24, 2026, 1:09 PMNext: How do you groom Seth Rogen?
(I told you Blender has something for everyone)
Sep 24, 2026, 2:40 PMI got stopped by someone who saw my Gyms, Zoos, and Museums video earlier this year, and then implemented their own Gyms and Zoos. This always completely makes my day! Thank you to everyone who tells me they used my videos to improve their workflows!
Sep 24, 2026, 2:49 PMHave you ever seen a talk about how to procedurally generate bouldering walls for climbing gyms?
Would you like to?
Sep 24, 2026, 6:45 PMHow many hands does it take to hold up a default cube?
Sep 24, 2026, 6:47 PMI gave a lightning talk at Blendercon! It’s about USD, and how you don’t have to worry about it!! It’s easy!
Catch the recording here at 44:02
Sep 24, 2026, 7:08 PMAnd now it’s music time, but for me it’s time to get some sleep. A very successful and fun day, goodnight!
Sep 24, 2026, 8:04 PMWait, am I about to be translated?
Sep 24, 2026, 8:46 PM@RYStorm "Espera, estou prestes a ser traduzido?"
Sep 25, 2026, 8:28 AMStarting off day 3 of Blendercon by grooming a cat.
There are many cat talks at Blendercon. There was one yesterday as well about how to properly simulate the muscles, skeleton, and animation of cats too.
Sep 25, 2026, 8:33 AMApparently Blender facilitates the full cat pipeline. (@acegikmo, you might like Blendercon)
Sep 25, 2026, 9:17 AMApparently you can also use Blender to build dinosaurs, that you can then print in real life! Such versatile software.
Sep 25, 2026, 9:21 AMWhy does Alex Chamberlain print giant dinosaur skeletons? Because billionaires keep buying the real ones for higher prices, and museums keep having to close because they have to cut costs.
So he wants to revolutionize the ownership of dinosaur skeletons, and let anyone print them.
Sep 25, 2026, 9:35 AMThe most often heard sentiment at Blendercon is, by speakers:
“Not that I’m an expert, I didn’t know this was novel, I just kinda built something and they accepted my talk.”
So never ever stop yourself from submitting your work. For awards, for conferences, for literally anything. JUST SUBMIT!
