    You should notice, also, that when feminists are suspicious of cis men, they cite statistics of how most sexual assaults are perpetrated by cis men. When anti-trans activists are suspicious of trans women, they cite examples of sexual assaults perpetrated by trans women.

    There is a qualitative difference between saying "if most sexual assaults are perpetrated by cis men, then we need to be careful about cis men" and saying "if one trans woman is a rapist, all trans women are rapists."

    The latter is not only the logical fallacy of hasty generalisation, it is also an example of fungibility: treating trans women as interchangeable. That is an aspect of objectification, which is distinctly anti-feminist.

    I've actually personally had anti-trans activists try to tell me that objection to treating people like objects is "the wrong kind of feminism."

    @Catriona I was once accused of rape by a TERF for explaining that refusing to date trans women simply because they're trans is actually transphobia. She said I was forcing her to have sex with us.

    I want to "lol" but this shit is so fucking serious and it's horrible.

    @CordiallyChloe Yeah, anyone has the right not to have sex with anyone for any reason, even transphobic ones.

    But demanding that we pretend transphobic reasons aren't transphobic goes beyond that. That's coercion: "assuage my ego or I'll call you a rapist."

    @Catriona exactly.

    They want to be transphobic and yell foul when they're called transphobic.

    Treating trans women like we're not women is transphobia. Period.

    If you're not attracted to someone, fine. If you're not comfortable with certain genitals, fine. I'm not questioning any of that.

    And I don't wanna date a transphobe. So I wouldn't date one of them anyway.

    But claiming it's not transphobic to treat trans women like we're not women is just absurd. And I'm tired of catering to cis nonsense like that.

    @CordiallyChloe @Catriona They don't want to examine their transphobia, they don't want to put in the work to unpack those feelings, they just want to be reassured that they aren't transphobic. And they'll get mad at trans people who suggest they might be more transphobic than they think. At least, that is what I have seen every time "genital preference" has come up.

    A few years ago, there was a furore about trans people "banning" the word 'woman'.

    Of course there was no such thing. What actually happened was that we said "don't call other people women if they don't want to be called women" and the transphobes responded with "how dare you say I can't call myself a woman!"

    What happened there is not subtle. Such is their narcissistic contempt for the very concept of "other people," they quite literally replaced the term "other people" with the term 'myself.' They in so many words made it about themselves.

    And once you recognise that narcissism, a lot of their other behaviour begins to fall into place.

    @CordiallyChloe @Catriona
    And rejecting a trans woman without sounding transphobic is easy. "Sorry, not my type".

    But they are not interested in that. They want to shout their transphobia out to the world for everyone to hear. It's the word itself they don't like.

    @leeloo @Catriona

    They also don't want to process the concepts behind it all.

    Like, if I didn't tell you I'm trans, you wouldn't know I'm trans. At all.

    So the suggestion that I'm "not your type" doesn't mean anything on its own. Like, if you like women, there's a chance you're attracted to me. Which means I'm your type. Y'know?

    So if someone is attracted to me, expresses that, then I tell them I'm trans, and they say "oh nevermind. Not my type." That's transphobia.

    @CordiallyChloe @Catriona
    Yeah, it depends on context. I had that argument with several transphobes on a "not dating" website, where you'd usually be able to tell someone is trans because their profile said so. In that situation, "not my type" works perfectly.

    @Catriona @CordiallyChloe Yeah...

    And basically all transphobes fuck this up so bad.

    If you like dating trans girls because it feels hidden and forbidden and you get a rush out of that, you're transphobic as hell and a chaser. That relationship will never be healthy. Fucking work on yourself.

    If you hate the thought of dating trans girls because you think that would make you gay because some trans girls have dicks, that's transphobic as hell. First of all, post-op trans girls exist and we're not really that different. And second, having a dick or not isn't what makes someone a woman. If you're attracted to a trans girl, you're still attracted to femininity and if you're a man, that's very straight. Whether or not she has a dick doesn't change that. And, seriously, no one who sees the two of you out and about will know. It's fine.

    But if you're like, "Yeah... I know trans women are women and I respect the hell out of them. I'm just really looking for a particular kind of sex.", that's fine. Don't date a pre- or no-op trans girl. And if you do find yourself out on a date with a trans girl, she'll probably tell you what she has going on downstairs before sex even enters the picture and you can make a decision.

    But if you don't ever want to date a trans girl because you might have to make that decision, then it's clear that you think women are just sex vending machines and it's not worth going on a date if you're not guaranteed your favorite kind of sex. That makes you a misogynist shithead and you should go do some work on yourself.

    But the notion that trans women existing and going on dates is somehow evil because the men might not want to have sex with us is just transphobia.
