    @Catriona exactly.

    They want to be transphobic and yell foul when they're called transphobic.

    Treating trans women like we're not women is transphobia. Period.

    If you're not attracted to someone, fine. If you're not comfortable with certain genitals, fine. I'm not questioning any of that.

    And I don't wanna date a transphobe. So I wouldn't date one of them anyway.

    But claiming it's not transphobic to treat trans women like we're not women is just absurd. And I'm tired of catering to cis nonsense like that.

    @CordiallyChloe @Catriona They don't want to examine their transphobia, they don't want to put in the work to unpack those feelings, they just want to be reassured that they aren't transphobic. And they'll get mad at trans people who suggest they might be more transphobic than they think. At least, that is what I have seen every time "genital preference" has come up.

    A few years ago, there was a furore about trans people "banning" the word 'woman'.

    Of course there was no such thing. What actually happened was that we said "don't call other people women if they don't want to be called women" and the transphobes responded with "how dare you say I can't call myself a woman!"

    What happened there is not subtle. Such is their narcissistic contempt for the very concept of "other people," they quite literally replaced the term "other people" with the term 'myself.' They in so many words made it about themselves.

    And once you recognise that narcissism, a lot of their other behaviour begins to fall into place.

    And rejecting a trans woman without sounding transphobic is easy. "Sorry, not my type".

    But they are not interested in that. They want to shout their transphobia out to the world for everyone to hear. It's the word itself they don't like.

    They also don't want to process the concepts behind it all.

    Like, if I didn't tell you I'm trans, you wouldn't know I'm trans. At all.

    So the suggestion that I'm "not your type" doesn't mean anything on its own. Like, if you like women, there's a chance you're attracted to me. Which means I'm your type. Y'know?

    So if someone is attracted to me, expresses that, then I tell them I'm trans, and they say "oh nevermind. Not my type." That's transphobia.

    Yeah, it depends on context. I had that argument with several transphobes on a "not dating" website, where you'd usually be able to tell someone is trans because their profile said so. In that situation, "not my type" works perfectly.
