Sep 10, 2026, 10:06 AM@hipsterelectron their official account very much is. they’re directly stating that the critique on fedi is kiwi farms harassment being rebroadcast here
like, it fucking sucks that the kiwi farms harassment happened, but critique isn’t harassment and fedi isn’t kiwi farms
I realize you don’t need me to say the above and I feel weird having to say it but neither you nor I made the accusation that grapheneOS did
@zzt we are all trying to figure out how to get him to calm down
Sep 10, 2026, 10:08 AM@hipsterelectron legitimately I hope there’s a way
I don’t know where to go if I can’t trust grapheneOS, this was my plan going forward for my mobile devices
@zzt @hipsterelectron Likewise, but the limited interaction I had with the official account was frustrating and... bizarre?
Not feeling a lot of confidence in the person running their Mastodon account, at very least.
Sep 10, 2026, 12:39 PM@hipsterelectron @zzt I tried this years ago in a conflict between daniel and some other folks (techlore iirc), and eventually dropped out because it just wasn't possible to have a clear conversation about it, and every misunderstanding however tiny immediately converted into a nuclear blast, making it impossibly stressful.
likewise I hope that there's a way to make it work, but that *is* going to require some work from daniel at some point, and personally I'm inclined to conclude by this point that daniel just doesn't want to do that. I have no reason to doubt that daniel was genuinely harrassed and traumatized in the past but that also can't be a perpetual shield against criticism or justification for harming others...
@joepie91 @hipsterelectron @zzt there's exhausting and then there's graphene exhausting
Sep 10, 2026, 4:50 PM@joepie91 @hipsterelectron @zzt I've seen people around me be personally harassed by the graphene people. They love playing the victim card so bad while just hurting anyone who dares criticize. I've decided never to touch this project way before this. I don't trust bullies with my personal data.

my read could be off here, but just their general vibe gives "i'd be dismissive of this harassment if it was happening to someone else but how it effects ME is a very big deal"
