    While it's still not exactly on the bleeding edge, it's a significant step forward. Lots of infrastructural blockers that prevented further development have been resolved in the process, and even though the base isn't very fresh, there's quite a bit of fresh work included too. I'd say the end result may even be more polished in some areas than in other up-to-date distros now (with a strong accent on "some areas", obviously, as they're clearly ahead in some others!)

    Now moving onto the trixie-based PureOS 12 "dawn", which should become usable by early adopters in the coming months 🎉

    Thank you for your support and patience on the way there 🤗

    @dos Thanks a lot for all your work on this!

    How do you manage to show an "empty" screen so that you can see the wallpaper? If I close all apps, I see the icons of the available apps, and the Search apps... box.

    I only see the wallpaper sometimes very briefly when opening an app.

    @dos Thank you Sebastian for all the hard and valuable work you've done to help make this happen!

    @dos I have been hesitant to ask a timeframe on Dawn since I know how Purism's been burnt in the past when estimating dates. I won't hold you or anyone to "coming months" but its still great to hear this.

    The phone, as it stands today, is running the smoothest and most reliably that it ever has for me. Thank you for this.

    @f_underscore I have no crystal ball to look into, but Crimson has been exceptionally unlucky in this regard, with multiple mutually unrelated reasons for its delays. For Dawn, the "only" thing left is to actually polish the distro itself.

    @dos I can testify to this. Camera with #Millipixels and GPS turn-by-turn navigation with #Puremaps are both significantly improved. In fact, I just drove to a new suburb for the frst time without needing my degoogled Android. Previously I was using #postmarketOS on this #Librem5. Thanks.

    @opensourceopenmind

    I also confirm that I can totally navigate by using #PureMaps on my #Librem5.

    Btw, did you notice that the volume of the turning instructions in PureMaps is pretty low? Actually too low to hear well for me. Way lower than the volume of other apps.

    @dos

    @janvlug @dos Yes it does sound low but even the notification sounds for most apps (besides Chatty and Thunderbird) aren't loud enough for me so I force overamplification:
    `org.gnome.desktop.sound allow-volume-above-100-percent 'true'`
    It's exposed in settings in more recent phosh/gnome versions.

    @opensourceopenmind @janvlug You may want to adjust Speaker Boost ALSA control rather than use software amplification that causes clipping. This is shared with the earpiece, be careful not to blast it at full volume when you have it near your ear.

    @opensourceopenmind @janvlug I hope that PipeWire will let us sort this out better. PulseAudio was very stubborn at considering the maximum available hardware amplification as 100% instead of 0dB, so I had to restrict it from using the whole range to keep it sane :(

    @dos @janvlug I'm excited for Pipewire. In pmOS 25.06 on L5, almost everything (not only Millipixels) including Firefox with Jitsi and Galene, other camera apps like Snapshot, other apps using camera like Decoder, Dino XMPP, Delta Chat, etc all mostly worked for scanning, video calls, etc. In 25.12 there were problems with legacy voice calls so they switched back to pulseaudio.

    @opensourceopenmind @janvlug libcamera won't produce nice image yet, but it should work nevertheless, so that's likely just some distro misconfiguration that you should be able to debug. Make sure you enable PipeWire support in Firefox in the first place, I don't think it's enabled by default yet.

    @dantalion Waydroid has worked for several years now. The package is now included in the PureOS repositories indeed. Coincidentally, Debian has packaged it a few days later as well.

    Not sure what you mean by migration guide. Migration from/to what?

    @dos For the android user data

    Specially cause the snippet I referenced suggests to delete it in the installation step.

    It suggest to run:
    `sudo rm -rf /usr/share/waydroid-extra /var/lib/waydroid ~/.local/share/waydroid ~/.local/share/applications/waydroid.*.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/Waydroid.desktop
    `

    @dantalion But what are you migrating from/to? What do you want to do in the first place?

    This is an installation guide, so it tells you how to start from the clean slate. There shouldn't be a need for a upgrade guide, just upgrade 😜

    @dos From the old pureos to 11. Having previously manually installed Waydroid from the CI Debian package.

    I wish to upgrade pureos without losing my android user data.

    I guess as long as I make a backup I can just uninstall the old packages and place the user data back in the right location after installing Waydroid from the repository.

    @dos Couple of days ago I dusted off my Librem 5 and installed Crimson on it. First thing I notice is that it's running smoother and it does not heat up as it used to. Battery life is also noticeably longer both when actively using it and in suspend.
    This is a massive improvement.

    Congratulations and thank you for your effort.

    @dos I finally had time to free enough space to upgrade. Looks good so far. Thanks for the good work.

    Did I do something wrong or do I still have to manually edit phoc.ini to have persisting scaling.

    What happend to the todo app? Is it a different app? I really liked the view where you could see all notes as if they were on a post-it note. Now it is more time based than topic based it seems.
