Planning to depart on my next motorcycle trip tomorrow, but still not sure where I want to go. 🤔
Guess I'll make it up as I go along. 😁

Hitting the road. 🏍️
After riding 360 km yesterday, I decided to stay in Mount Morgan for the night. Would've gone further, but it was getting a bit late, and I was getting tired.
Had a good night's sleep in the new swag. Nice and warm, despite the cold Mount Morgan air.
Biloela QLD was a bit of a mixed bag.
On one hand, the Spirit of the Land mural and "The Boy from Biloela" tribute to actor Bille Brown are pretty cool.
On the other, I visited THREE Biloela servos in a row:
* None of them had any Ice Break (the world's greatest beverage)
* One of them couldn't serve any petrol
* Another was some kind of kebab shop that also happened to sell Mobil
Biloela is a bit of an odd place.
@dHeinemann east, gotta head east!
@arnan Unfortunately, that'd send me right into the ocean! 🤣
@dHeinemann But but but, going the other way risks ending up in "western society" which is no fun... So be careful 🤣
Found this... thing in Thangool QLD.
Lawgi Dawes, QLD
@dHeinemann I like seeing your progress, on the other side of the world. Thanks!
I've seen a bit of silo art before, but the silo art at Three Moon QLD is really next-level. Definitely take the time to stop here if you're in the area.
The Big Bunyip at Mulgildie QLD.
I arrived at Dalby QLD yesterday, after 465 km and nearly 7 hours of riding. Big day!
Decided to check into a motel so I could charge up phone and electronics. Stayed at the Windsor Hotel, and also had an amazing crumbed steak there. Easily one of the best. ❤️
The ride into Dalby QLD has some great scenery, and lots of long, straight roads - my favourite kind for cruising and sight-seeing. Those roads really need resurfacing though. They're so rough, they might as well be corrugated bitumen.
Just did an even bigger ride today. More photos to come!
Starting the day right: with a bottle of Ice Break in the morning sun.
Water Tank Art at Millmerran QLD.
The Big Teepee at Millmerran QLD.
@dHeinemann this thing is so random. I was there in Dec last year.
I decided to visit Texas QLD and hop the border. 😁
Once I reached Texas, it started bucketing down rain. Glad I bought wet weather gear for this trip. In the past, I've just embraced the rain, but down here it's bloody cold!
I took my wet weather gear off when the sun came back out - only to put it back on again 30 minutes later when another storm came overhead. I didn't roll my swag very well, and it got a bit damp inside.
After 560 km and over 6 hours of riding, I arrived in Tamworth NSW! 🎉
I decided to book a motel room to make sure I can dry everything after the rain. Also because I underestimated how damn cold it gets down here. I didn't even pack a sleeping bag or jumper. 🥶
The Tamworth countryside is lovely, and the highway very well-maintained. I was in a hurry to arrive before sunset, but it would've been nice to stop more along the way.
I set my alarm for 5 am, planning to leave Tamworth early, but it was bloody freezing, and sleep got the better of me. I eventually got up at 9 am and just extended my stay by a night.
I later found out there had been a cold snap - it was 5°C (41°F) overnight, and it was STILL freezing by the time I jumped on the bike at 10 am and went exploring.
Here's the Golden Guitar (Tamworth), and the Big Chook (Moonbi).
Tamworth NSW is great to visit for a ride. The roads are extremely well maintained, and the highways in and out take you over rolling hills with pleasant views. It's also fairly green. Reminds me a bit of Innisfail in North Queensland. I could ride around here all day if I had the time.
Captain Thunderbolt's Rock (Uralla NSW), and a historic grave (Bendemeer NSW) dated to the late 1800s, before Australia even Federated and became the country we know today.
Got up bright and early, with plans to ride to Goondiwindi QLD.
My original plan was to visit Port Macquarie NSW followed by Brisbane QLD, but I nixed them due to forecasted rain. I already got enough of that this week! I love the flexibility of solo travel; I can change my plans on a whim. 😁
Gunnedah NSW also has some awesome silo art - but I still think Three Moon takes the cake.
