Lol. Found because of people next to me on the tube playing it: https://poople.io

I'm considering a nano tank to "aquascape" and maybe eventually introduce little shrimp and snails into, and now I'm swimming in relevant YouTube content --

But, what nice content! A lot of it is calming and lovely to watch. Could definitely be worse!

Looking at a 20 litre cube, at the moment. Hm hmmm.

I'm thinking I want to follow the Walstad method - which seems to be essentially plant heavily and let those plants do the filtering for you.

Calling accessibility experts:
I am searching for feedback on an upcoming article about the idea of a accessibility pattern library for web.

I‘d be delighted if you would give me your opinion before it goes public.
Let me know and I’ll send you the link.

@sarajw I happen to have the HItchhiker’s Guide original radio version and here is a clip of the first door sigh

Ford: […] a new generation of Sirius Cybernetics Corporation robots and computers, with the new GPP feature
Arthur: GPP, what’s that?
Ford: It says Genuine People Personalities
Arthur: Sounds ghastly
Door: <opens> <sighs>

Oh come on...

Lovely little video of a chap (in Germany or somewhere German speaking) dealing with people standing on the ridged lines used by cane using blind people:

Keep the guide rails unobstruc...

It's that little breathy sigh: https://front-end.social/@sarajw/117458031510441995

Just listen to these things

Now I'm starting to understand the ick factor of the doors in the Heart of Gold ship, in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Linking them worked! Funny, why not. Not stereo though, I guess?

Another thing is that their startup and Bluetooth connection noises are very hifi but also unnervingly human and satisfied sounding.

Some deep sighs come out of this thing. It's a little too sensual 😳

Oh and I also bought the pink one! They are also available in a more understated white.

Apparently they can link together and play the same output from one source! Not tested that yet.

Bought a cute little IKEA KALLSUP* Bluetooth speaker today, and it works pretty nicely!

I pulled it open out of curiosity because there were just two screws and I thought, why not - if it breaks I've only lost 4.99€

It has a nice little 14500 battery in it, easy to replace if I need to! It went back together easily enough, with a little brute force and ignorance.

* I think IKEA are running out of words. This is named after the feeling of accidentally inhaling water!?

Good news: CSS-Tricks will indeed be back later this month!

It was more like 1.5 hours in the end! Guess he'd already doubled the estimate before telling me.

One of the other workers got narky at me for taking a photo of the site, though. I guess it's fair, he didn't know I was trying my best to keep their faces out of shot.

But also, they were working in public directly in front of my home, having broken my internet connection, and they'd pulled up the bike path - which I wanted to inform my husband about who was otherwise going to ride home on it.

I just love it when a company digs up the pavement in front of my home and severs my internet connection without warning.

Apparently a length of cable needs replacing. Another 2-3 hours (I'll double that estimate as standard).

Here's hoping it's all connected up right before they fill the hole, unlike last time...

@gutenberg_org Remarkably, she had a mother too - who was a lot more of an influence on her than that little shit Byron, whose only remark on meeting his new baby daughter was to smirk at his wife, and say to the baby "Oh, what an instrument of torment I have in you". He had already "legally" wrested another child he'd spawned from her loving mother and put her in a convent, where she died

"The Analytical Engine weaves algebraic patterns just as the Jacquard loom weaves flowers and leaves."

Let's celebrate, today is Ada Lovelace Day!

Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron, was a pioneering mathematician. Known for creating the first machine algorithm for Babbage's Analytical Engine, she is widely celebrated as the first programmer.

I’m looking to connect with university lecturers and staff. We offer student tickets for @ffconf.org@bsky.brid.gy, but they’re easy to miss, and I’d love to give the next generation of web developers the chance to attend a great indie event.

If anyone can contact please drop me comment here I can follow up.

On the day that Margaret Hamilton, whose software helped land Apollo 11 on the Moon, died at 90, it's worth noting why computer programming became so dominated by men.

It wasn't remotely because men were better than women at programming. It was because, as soon as men realized how important programming was, they bullied and intimidated women out of the profession. And then smiled smugly and said: "Women can't program".
