RE: https://writing.exchange/@writefreely/116953740059647415

If you run a @writefreely instance PLEASE pay attention to this! I've seen over 100,000 new accounts on writefreely in the last week, probably mostly spam, unfortunately.

presented, again, without context

A programmer had a problem. He thought to himself, "I know, I'll solve it with threads!". has Now problems. two he

I'm a hypocrite. I know it's bad. And that's why I won't let anyone be a hypocrite, or a horrible person for that matter. The world doesn't need more of my kind... well, the brainrot can stay, I guess.

EDIT: added alt texts

This guy tried to justify it btw

My cat's antidepressant prescription comes with a free toy every month. Human pharmacies, take note.

I am NOT beating the "this mf follows and boosts brainrots and memes" allegations 😭

A question for gamedevs on the fedi out there; when you make a 3d water shader with transparency, how do you output the underwater buffer after fading it out, etc.? I may use the poll result in a blog post about it.

Please excuse the potential hashtag spam. I'd like to get this to as many relevant people as possible.

A game where on each maps you will have multiple objectives (places to visit, look at, etc.), and you get to see absolutely stunning views on the way while traveling to each of them. Like, maybe there's a view you have to photograph from the top of a mountain, then you'll have to deliver the negative to someone at a little village. Maybe you'll even get to go on a little treasure hunt that involves scuba diving.

A gem from one of the FOSSASIA talks: "if you're a Red Hat engineer, why do you wear a gray hat?"

Yeah it's for the guy in that selfie of mine lol

are these people deadass using the same excuse they used to commit genocide on palestinians again???

lol?

This is your occasional reminder to #fediblock Babka.Social. Their sole admin frequently posts and boosts genocide denial and other similar contents.

Looking past Trump, here is what I want: I want politicians to understand that the political order that used to govern the United States is now dead, and to use that for the good of the actual people

I don't want to hear that we can't do universal healthcare because the insurance companies and blah blah blah, fuck the insurance companies, do universal healthcare without them

I don't want to hear that the second amendment means we have to have daily mass shootings, if Trump can argue that the plain text of the fourteenth amendment doesn't mean what it clearly says, then you can argue that "well regulated militia" actually means something

I don't want to hear whatever this year's excuse for why we need to transfer more wealth to rich people is, the verdict is in, this has been an awful policy for decades that has hurt basically everyone, I don't give a shit how much money rich people spend complaining, do wealth transfer in the opposite direction

"Tough on crime" and "war on drugs" have always been bullshit, some people hated law enforcement before but basically everyone hates them now, this is a good time to end that shit and spend money on things that help people, not oppress them

Lean in to the "Department of War" nonsense, spending more money than God has on "Defense" was bad but they had arguments for it, but who really actually wants to spend so much money on war, cut that shit

Exactly zero people are excited about all the companies rolling into one like some kind of hellish capitalist Katamari, I don't care if the CEOs came to your inauguration, get out that trust busting axe, everyone will cheer you on

IDGAF about any kind of immunity anyone supposedly has because they get a government paycheck, end that shit with laws, and prosecute the violent and the corrupt

I will no longer accept excuses that you are not doing things because they are not politically possible, we have ample evidence that this is no longer a thing: if you continue to not do them, we know it's because you don't want to, and you can fuck off so that we can have representatives who actually want to make this country better

While cleaning a storage room, our staff found this tape containing #UNIX v4 from Bell Labs, circa 1973

Apparently no other complete copies are known to exist: https://gunkies.org/wiki/UNIX_Fourth_Edition

We have arranged to deliver it to the Computer History Museum
