Friday Pippin dares to dream this weekend could be a good one.

I was discussing Goth vs Emo with Youngest Child yesterday,

And yeah there are obvious differences when looking at these subcultures.

But on the other hand, I wanna dress in black and say shit's fucked up.

So I knew this was coming, but the cinema forum I had been part of for the last 22 years finally shut down.

There's a bunch I could say about this. Reading people really dig into films was fantastic for me in understanding how to engage with art.

But perhaps what's on my mind is hiw the internet has failed. Regular folk can't afford to host and maintain sites anymore. Ultimately every thing leads to people engaging within corporately controlled spaces.

I am witnessing the sadness of the cat eating their last (automatically fed) feed of the day and yelping in despondency that there is no more.

And who says there's no emotion left in the world?

Cat status.

I'm watching 'The 36th Chamber of Shaolin' (1978).

It stars Gordon Liu, who modern audiences would recognise from his dual roles in Kill Bill (Johnny Mo of the Crazy 88s, and Pai Mei).

Cat on a platform.

If you are gonna die in a narrative fiction?

Tomorrow looks wet.

Full disclosure: I never *really* got into Aphex Twin. I think I had two albums and was mostly confused by them, compared to the relatively accessible NIN.

That said, you can see the influence of this kind of glitchy electronica everywhere these days.

Aphex Twin is cool again.

Ok.

Wallace And Gromit Curse Of The Were-Rabbit was released approximately 20 years ago.

It’s one of my favourites.

After listening to Mr Bungle* the other day, I’ve become hooked on the song Retrovertigo again.

(* One of Mike Patton’s many other bands. Indeed, his first)

It has such a compelling and mournful melody to it.

Is it Canadian Power Metal time?

I am trying to fight the good fight against AI at work.

I think there are arguments that are legitimate, but also accusational.
E.g.
- Using it harms creators
- Using it harms the environment
- You may think it’s helping you, but your colleagues will have to clean up the mess in your output

I think this is all true, but work people will just shut off and not listen.

So instead, I’ve focused on the economic argument:

“Even if you like it now, will you like it when they start ramping up the cost? $327b was spent last year with no profit… how do you expect they are going to get their money back?”

This is the point where I admit I though The Herd version of 'I was only 19' was the original.

Remember that time (warning: subtoot) someone decided to pile on me cause our family use this?

My ex-wife and I have this on for each other and we really don’t think twice. (Maybe cause we have a pretty healthy post-marriage arrangement for life, parenting, and sharing cat memes)
