Does anyone know where to find out what year(s) that auto makers started putting active telemetry (aka telematics, or cellphone cards) into their cars?
Asking because I'm trying to help a relative find an un-enshittified, non-connected car.

I have a 2006 civic and also a corolla. They don't have them. You can look at newer models, basically, the more modern features they have, the more connected they are.
My plan is to just keep the corolla until I stop driving.
You're probably okay up to 2012. I can't remember the cut-off I was using when I was looking for a used car to buy. The first cars to be hooked up to the internet had early 2G networks, and those got sunsetted.
Good luck.
Fwiw, my mechanic grabs corollas to fix up and sell because they're mechanically solid and cheaper to repair. He said Fits are solid too, and the mileage is a lot better.
