love it when an rpg player has a bunch of early game consumable items and then they don't use them because they might need them later and when they want to use them at the final boss they have way better items to use so they end up being completely useless to this player

solution: low level consumable items in an rpg should come with an expiration time. if you don't use them in the next ____ hours (in game time), they're gone.

@typeswitch I think having a way to upgrade low level items into higher level ones might be an interesting solution to the issue?

@springogeek although that certainly would feel better than your items expiring if you ignore them. another way would be to be able to pitch the low level items to get some weapon upgrade, or other customization, later in the game. in theory the `sell` function of most rpgs kinda works like this, but you get so little from the early game items.
