A couple of years ago, I added more RAM and a bigger SSD to my laptop. After I did that, my computer started taking long time to boot. I don't know why.

Yesterday, the computer froze hard while playing a game and I had to do a hard reset. The computer didn't want to come back to life, but eventually it did and entered a BIOS diagnostic screen. I let it do the self diagnosis and when it finished, it said it found a memory issue and fixed it. Now it boots up in seconds like it did when it was new

I'm not really a hardware guy. I still don't know exactly what went wrong or what the system did to repair it. But I'm glad things are working better now.

Right? It's been bugging me for a long time, but since things were working, albeit with a slow boot-up, I let it slide. So much nicer now.

If something like this ever happens again, though, I'll definitely start a BIOS diagnostic right away.
