Mastodon feels lonely.
There are many, many more people linked to my account here than the other social media accounts I've had, but I guess I don't know how many of those accounts are even active.

@violetmadder it has peaks and valleys for sure... now sure feels like a valley
@violetmadder And even the ones that are active, are they seeing what we post, or does it just go by in the feed between visits? Fedi is a slower smaller firehose than the big corporate socials, but still pretty much a firehose
I only follow a couple hundred people and can’t even possibly keep up with just my home page and don’t even try, I just read a few posts off the top a few times a day and try to interact when I like something
when something I post doesn’t seem to get any interaction, I wonder if it’s not that no one liked it or didn’t think it worth replying to, but maybe no one read it. It could have just fallen into the gaps between what anyone could get to
Yeah I wish it was a bit easier to toggle off the boosts so I could see what the people I follow are personally saying.
@violetmadder The thing that is missing is direct communication between people or groups of people. I belonged to a thing called Tribe many years the brought people with specific interests together. Unfortunately Tribe had no way to prevent fake accounts and those with bad intentions ruined it for everyone else. I’m fine without the personal connections as long as everyone is a real person.
I remember Tribe, it was a great place to connect with other folks in the dance I was learning. Good times. Had a LiveJournal account then, too, but lost access to it.
@violetmadder It does seem pretty quiet today.
@violetmadder I read most of what you write but hardly answer to postings in english, because I seem to be missing the tone, some hidden irony, cultural sensitivities or other things.
I love direct conversations, but I hate crossing peoples boundaries. So I got very careful with answering to people in english.
I write this, because I'm one of the quiet attachés of your account...
@violetmadder For me, it comes and goes. Sometimes it’s like going to the best party ever. Sometimes it’s very quiet.
