@leanderlindahl they need to be where their statements can be viewed without needing to sign up for an account. Goes for everyone, you want me to see something post it outside of the walled gardens

@OtterMatic @leanderlindahl for many politicians the great thing about walled gardens is the ability to put out niche messages that are less likely to leak.

Most obviously facebook targeted ads, where in most countries politicians aren't required to publicise the ads they us so if no-one who sees a particular ad copies it to a public repository no-one knows what that politician is saying to that niche.

Both directions, too: If they seek interaction from their constituency, that must be open to all without being contingent on use of any private platform.

Every government service should be on websites operated by that government for its people, not in the control of private corporations.

If they want to interact in social media, they should not ever be on private platforms; they should be operating public-owned and public-accountable #Fediverse instances.

@bignose @OtterMatic @leanderlindahl or, at the very least, their FB account should just be a posting of summary and link to the main article on a free network, so that the people on that network get used to going to the other one, and then, hopefully, don't even bother going via FB in the first place...
