Modern web design.
Let's create a video player that:
- Starts playing automatically.
- Defaults muted (which is nice).
- Doesn't have a way to restart from the beginning (short of refreshing which causes the same issue).
- Has a pop-over slowing down your ability to click the unmute button.
Who thought any of this was a good idea?
I still think that the older Stephen Colbert The Late Show opening was amazing.
So this is _not_ a character modeling tutorial. Holy crap that must of taken a lot of effort.
(Context: This person puts out videos where they pretend their animations are sentient beings.)
Why is Pi, of all numbers, not round...
What's worse?
I just realized how ironic it is that Godot has a fairly short load time.
And, of course, the usual points are valid, too. It's not actual intelligence. It doesn't understand the concept of problems in general, let alone the concept of your problem. etc. etc. etc.
I've noticed that criticisms of machine learning (ML) ignore that the root problem is capitalism.
If we lived in a world with infinite resources and no-one needed to work to validate their existence, then there would be no problem with generative AI.
Of course we live in a world with finite resources, and ML is branded as invalidating the existence of many people, especially creatives, while burning loads of energy and semiconductors.
Still, better to explicitly mention the problem.
Has anyone thought about having the CPU heat spreader clip into the top flap, and having the metal arm lower the CPU onto the pins?
Seems like it would be easier to install than dropping the CPU onto pins, and then locking the top flap on it.
Quick! I need a proximity sensor, six specifically-sized LCD panels, and a Raspberry Pi.
Is the shift supervisor at Five Guys called the Four Man?
Oh hey. I have been given 32-bit support.
@mcc It's been a while since I played around with two Windows installs on the same PC, but IIRC just changing the boot order in the motherboard should fix this??? Or is there something I'm missing???
Why is no-one talking about Dapolite Sandstorm?
So, like, you can write C++ that's safe and readable. Opponents can easily point to situations where it's neither safe nor readable, but that's not because the language cannot facilitate a safe or readable option. Most of it seems to be a natural inclination to over-complicate problems... like, to the point that someone points out a simple solution, and there's a push-back before they're convinced that it was really that simple.
I'm kind-of torn in the recent C++ vs Rust memory safety debate. C++ (unlike many other languages) has syntax that nicely layers "safe code" down to "scary code" in a way that you'll know when you should feel comfortable or uneasy. Even experts often go dirty when they shouldn't, though.
Rust has some weird design decisions, but they take some of the best parts of C++ and the compiler will fight you more and more in the times that you should feel uneasy.
Just happened to see a train roll past me when I was walking to a cafe. Quickly pulled out my phone (right as someone texted me of course) to snap a picture, because I was a tourist stereotype.
I think it turned out quite well though.
