tragedy! my no-name but not the cheapest backgammon set is uhh leaking? the once-stinky resin pieces seem oily, the trays where they sit are spotty with liquid, and (different substance?) there's some powdery white gunk in its corners that gets waxy when collected together (i thought maybe dried wood glue but no).
and! i can't find the spare set of wooden checkers i bought. i set them aside /somewhere/ together with extra dice. i know this because the tray where they lived now holds all the /other/ dice and the Actually Spare checkers from the wooden set, one of each color in case you lost one. well. i lost the entire set. it's in no logical place. it's in no reach-able place, and i don't think i'd purposefully hide it somewhere we don't usually have access to. where the heck is it?
i have half a mind to get a Professional board to avoid the craftsmanship/manufacturing issue, but those range from a few hundred euro (lol) to a few thousand pounds (LOL) obviously it would be that lower end. but. i'm gonna travel soon, i wanted to take the board! no way am i getting an expensive board now (maybe xmas?) but i also don't want to get a tiny shitty travel board just because. i'll be drowning in boards. where are my checkers?
(after discovering the stinky checkers originally, and before ordering the wooden ones, i'd made a set out of thick cardboard. i've since thrown them out. wah! i'd make those again if we hadn't just thrown out paper recycling)
