anyway, the whole cute story is: partner and i were on our way back from our park walk, it's very warm and sunny. we crossed the street and saw this little beetle walking around the pavement, quite a big guy for this early in spring.
there's someone crossing the street, so we stand there pointedly looking and exclaiming over the beetle so that the new person doesn't accidentally step on them and they can get to the safety of the nearby bushes.
instead the person - a tall guy, maybe a little older than us - also stops, bends over to pick the guy up, and shows it to us closer. the beetle walks all over his hand and arm, and the guy (who did look like a bug-enjoyer, he was wearing a fleece and a sort of fisherman's hat in the same color as the bug - greenish gray) proceeds to tell us Bug Facts. the diet, the colors, the varieties.
"they come out with the sun, like butterflies."
then our beetle friend flew off, we thanked the guy for his time and knowledge, and we all parted ways 🌞
