@mastodonmigration That’s foolish. Who had historic wins? Who do people think brought about the tsunami? Good governance, guidance and money from the House and Senate PACs and the DNC. That’s what brought about the tsunami. I’m all for Jeffries and Schumer.

@mastodonmigration He did not support, I would not say he opposed. Once they won their primaries, he was 100% behind them. There are a few I would have opposed also because they’re extreme and cannot achieve their extreme agenda. It’s a pipe dream. I appreciate how all the young people and non-voters who voted this time feel like they should be in control, but that’s not how it works. Schumer is more likely to sway 3-4 GOP senators to go along with them than anyone else could.

@Beachbum Disagree. He is a terrible choice for leader. His popularity is 13%. Whenever he speaks people cringe. We need a compelling leader who can galvanize the country in these challenging times. The widely despised Chuck Schumer is not that guy.

@mastodonmigration He’s been very successful. How many people know what was in the housing bill which was the only good Bill that was passed by both House and Senate? You think the Republicans were all excited about voting for that bill and giving the Dems any accomplishment? DS & HJ did that.
Why people despise them is beyond me. Yes, he’s old, but he’s effective. Even in the minority, normally a zero sum gain, still they unsuccessfully tried to stop ice from menacing people.

@Beachbum The idea that only qualification for the leader of the Senate is being a good bureaucrat is nonsense. The leader of the Democrats needs to be a popular leader. Not someone who most Democrats despise.

@mastodonmigration The last I saw only eight DSA candidates won so far. EST 127 house members lean far left now out of 435. Bernie has always been too extreme for most people and he has not had any notable accomplishments because of it.
I’m 100% against Medicare for all because I have experienced Medicare. It’s only 80/20. That still puts people into bankruptcy.

@mastodonmigration How many DSA candidates do you really think won over the conventional middle of the road Democrats? They are not the majority.
I’m not trying to argue with you, but I have been a political wonk since 1974. How many of them do you actually think know how the House or the Senate works internally? How many know what reconciliation is? How many know what the Rules Committee is? How many know what the Parliamentarian is? They are about to learn. 💫

@Beachbum Not saying we need a very liberal progressive, or someone with no experience. What we need is a good solid well regarded leader. A real leader. Chuck Schumer is a miserable choice. We can do much better. Chris Van Hollen would be perfect.
