@davidrevoy thanks a lot for that! that also very much reflects what I've been doing with licenses already and this sums up when beings argue I should use GPL cause my "exotic" Cooperative Non-Violent license hasn't proven in court and evil state actors can use it regardless. And I still use that license!
@littlerao :blobcatheart:
@littlerao @davidrevoy Same, I use a BSD 3-clause no nuke no military.
Will it hold up in court? Who cares? It still says what I'd like to say.
Also... I'd dearly love to tell a court "you'd have to be stupid to use this in a military or nuclear capacity, and the license clearly says it's not my problem if you do"
@Longplay_Games @davidrevoy is there an official BSD no military? cause last time I looked at it, I kinda got upset that they did have the no nuclear stuff but no "no military"...
@littlerao @davidrevoy Yes.
https://spdx.org/licenses/BSD-3-Clause-No-Military-License.html
For my use, I just slightly amended it (pardon the all-caps, that's just how the license is)
"YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT DESIGNED, LICENSED OR INTENDED FOR USE IN THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, OPERATION OR MAINTENANCE OF ANY MILITARY OR NUCLEAR FACILITY."
@Longplay_Games @davidrevoy nice... ig wikipedia needs an update then, cause that was my source
