So I just tried to create a new Gmail account and was told I need to scan a QR code. I cannot do this on my own as ya know, no eyesight. no other optoin was given. the other day I tried to sign into chrome and had to complete an audio challenge where the audio was so garbled that a sighted person then had to complete a visual challenge for me. That took 4 attempts. Google, what the hell are you playing at and why do you insist on making your services so inaccessible? it's 2026. This is not acceptable.

@ednun_p @serrebi Two ways around the bullshit QR code problem:
    1. Sign up using a phone (or spoof the user agent). Google will not ask you to scan a QR code displayed on a phone because even Google isn't quite that moronic. Instead they'll just ask you to verify your phone number.
    2. use a QR code reader extension or other app to pull the URL out of the QR code, then send it to your phone.
That URL just points to a page that eventually opens messages and sends a verification text to Google. There is no reason at all why they couldn't have added written instructions or put the link somewhere on the page with the QR code. It's pure oversight, and not the excusable kind.

@simon @serrebi didn't know about QR code extension readers but honestly, the fact we even have to do this is absolutely mind blowing to me. in the end I used a very old gmail email I had laying about rather than create a new account.
