    I want to attempt a little experiment. One of my favorite things on ye olde phpBBs of yore was the chain story. And so I want to give it a try on a new medium.

    The proposed rules for all chain stories:
    + Extend the story only if you follow the original poster.
    + Extend the story only from the most recent post of the chain.
    + Use #NonStory for non-story replies. Use #ChainStory on story replies.
    + End your bit with ">>>", so the next person can go.
    + Don't write too much, or too little.

    And the rules for this specific #ChainStory:
    + Add the tag #TheExperiment to your contributions.
    + Write in 3rd person omniscient POV.
    + Write in the usual mode of any genre you please. It is not required to remain consistent with previous contributions.
    + No horny on main. Avoid any subject matter which may be inappropriate for persons younger than the age of majority for their species.

    The soft glow of a screen brightened a room falling into night, as Oyo tapped away at a keyboard. They were adamant that dark mode went on only after the sun dips below the horizon, to the eternal dismay of the other occupants of the house. Oyo was between gigs at the moment, a rarity for a black market repair tech in the age of disposable machines. Their DRM defeat devices lay idle; parts fabricators stood silent.
