A huge #Substitoot update is up (and rudely opens this status in a new tab!).

    • Completely rewritten internals. No more blocking and no more fake statuses, everything is fetched directly to your instance one by one.
    • Now showing a progress/status indicator at the bottom of the screen (when doing something).
    • A number of bugs wiped out of existence along with many kilobytes of legacy code.
    • Can now fetch from all omas and keys (or so I think).
    • Firefox on Android can now install the addon normally (or so I think!).

Edit 2: 0.7.0 is up on all Firefoxes and Chromes, links on substitoot.kludge.guru

A bugfix release is coming today or tomorrow. Until then if you find your home timeline polluted just reload the page :ageblobcat:

If there are any other bugs I should know about, please reply to this post which I have conveniently pulled to your instance :ablobcatheartsqueeze:

Looks like i've been a bit too optimistic about how well other software works :)

The number of Misskey and Akkoma forks (and different configurations thereof) is too damn high! :omya_mastodon:

Update: since this is getting new boosts, I thought i'll edit the post. The upcoming Mastodon version 4.5 near-completely removes the need for this addon (and in fact it may interfere with the native mechanism).

If you are already on version 4.5 (for example, if you are on mastodon.social) you don't need it and should disable it if already installed.

The extension will be officially retired once 4.5 releases.

Sometimes a temporary solution really is temporary. Let us rejoice in that.

⚠️ Have you been that person who considerately replies to a post only to be told you're the tenth person to say the same thing? :blobcatfearful: :oof:

Substitoot :substitoot: will not erase this shame from your memory, but it will help you avoid doing that ever again, by making sure you see all the replies, and not just whatever happened to reach your instance. Now with 66% fewer bugs! :meowsurprised:

Get #Substitoot now for Firefox, Chrome, and now Firefox for Android! Go to substitoot.kludge.guru

This software is provided "as is" and loves you "just the way you are". By downloading it you agree with things you find agreeable.

    Boosts, likes and headpats welcome!
