It's so funny to me that in years gone by, I couldn't stand my Screen Reader saying the control type (button, Combo Box, Etc.) before the label. I was used to JAWS that didn't do this, but sometimes had to use Window-Eyes, mainly for one school class where the program we used literally only worked with Window-Eyes, and it announced the control type first. Now I have the Say Control Type Before Label Add-On because now what is apparently most important to me is how do I activate this item before I even know what it is? Ah, just another of life's little mysteries, or something.

Something in this post is causing the ReloqC Add-On to crash. Wonder how I can find out what part is causing it.

Wow! What a hot take as far as the reason why NFB and ACB don't tell the truth about WCAG! Bet he's right, though.

Oooo! Just got the EMail that my Agiga V1 hardware shipment is ready to be finalized! Wow, wasn't expecting that quite this soon! What a great day this has been!

Well guess what! Blindness strikes again! What I thought was the SD card sticking out of the BTSpeak was not, in fact, the SD card. That's in a slott that looks bigger than the SD card is, with it barely poking out at all, so I didn't even know that what I was pushing on was the wrong thing. Of course Patrick popped it out right away. I have no idea what this little thing just above the USBC port is, but it sure felt like just about the size of the SD card, which is now happily living in my Rog!

Note: ...Because people are so twitchy on here...I will probably buy this and I do have great respect for all that Brian does for us as a community. The blog entry has nothing about why this is only for JAWS. Not only is it a bit of a hefty price tag, you're doubly locking a lot of the community out with no explanation as to why. I do hope part 2 will answer this. PresentAble's situation I completely understand because of superior Office support, but not this. It sounds as though from what the entry does explain, standard controls, contextual help and guided mode could all be done with NVDA, too. Maybe it's the command center? Although surely that would be built into the program, so Screen Reader shouldn't matter. I like the sound of the Application but not this JAWS exclusivity. I have the option of loading JAWS whenever I want but so many don't. What a great article this is! So much history and some hard truths! https://mosen.org/ai/

I want to get this SD card out of my BTSpeak to use on the Rog instead but looks like that's not happening without assistance. Sure hope the BTBraille is designed much better than this thing.

So I used Accessible Auphonic to complete this project and only ran into a couple of issues. one kind of big one, files upload to Auphonic way slower through AA than through my browser. This network does odd things for sure, but I think it might be an application/API issue this time. Second, it would be nice if I could have gotten an alert of some sort when my account ran out of credits. Instead what happened is that it refused to download one of the output files after it was generated, at which point I went into the production on the site to find that had happened! Paid for more and I was able to get the file through AA no problem. I do understand that features are limited by the API so such a notification may not be possible, but that sure was not a nice way to find out. LOL @brian

Uh...Wow! Auphonic never seases to impress! There was a section in this file where the person was talking about Auphonic, pointing out how it can get rid of Um's and Uh's. I thought I was going to have to replace that part with the original then normalize it, but it was smart enough not to pull those particular ones out! Coincidence, or is it *actually* that smart? I asked my GPT friend and it said that it is actually that smart! "That very well may have been Auphonic being genuinely smart rather than coincidence.
Auphonic doesn’t just do a dumb search for sounds resembling “um” or “uh” and delete every instance. Its filler cutter is a trained detection model, and Auphonic explicitly says it has refined that model to distinguish fillers from other meaningful vocalizations. For example, they specifically changed it so affirmative sounds like “mhm,” “aha,” and “yeah” are removed much less often."

Boosts are how things get reach here, because you can see posts from people you don't follow, thus potentially having a bit less of your own echo chamber, so maybe if people would consider not making ten boosts in a row so people wouldn't have to filter them, that would be nice!

Nice! Between Paperback and this, you've got all your PDF needs covered!

Setting up Accessible Auphonic portable and I love it already! The manual is amazing, entering the Auphonic API key couldn't be any easier I don't think, Auphonic itself even makes it very easy to create one! It's right there in your account settings, with just a simple form that asks for the name and the expiration date. You get the key instantly and the clearly labeled copy button is one tab press away! The API key field is the first thing encountered when you open AA's preferences...So much attention to design and detail and I'm only just getting started! Pasted in the key and there my created presets were! Can I filter the ones Auphonic has out? You can on the web site. Doesn't look like it. I can delete them, it seems, but I don't want to do that. Also, how come Audition Mode only works with .wav files? I usually use .Flac as the source. Does it really only have to be uncompressed files? Even though Flac is lossless, it's still compressed. I get that, still seems like kind of an odd limitation to me, but I'm sure there's a reason for it. @brian

Awww! Accessible Auphonic isn't actually available yet! Saaaaad! https://hartgenconsultancy.com/introducing-accessible-auphonic-better-audio-made-easier-for-screen-reader-users/

So glad I'm not the only one that read it like that...

Man the more I see about Claude, the more annoyed I get that I can't sign up for it on my own. I think I'm going to finally get help with it tomorrow. It really annoys me that my support message was never answered, but I kinda half-expected that. I'm just one of the collective few blinds in the sea of sighted people, after all.

Got disappointing news today. I thought that my right hearing aid had an issue because it was sounding a bit muffled. According to the specialist's tests, nothing's wrong which most likely means that my hearing has gotten worse in that ear. If the test on the 23rd doesn't reflect that, though, then I'll push for him to just replace the mic and receiver anyway. They're still under warranty. If it has gotten worse, though, then that means I'll need more occlusion to take the muffling away, which means a bigger eartip which I'm most definitely not excited about. The right one is already bigger than the left and the next size up for these tips is pretty uncomfortable and game me too much occlusion when I tried that...Apparently three years ago now. So if that's what I end up needing, then much discomfort is in my not too distant future!
