After 37 years of denial and censorship of the press, in 1998 the government finally acknowledged 40 deaths, while some historians estimate that between 200 and 300 Algerians died.[6] Death was due to heavy-handed beating by the police, as well as mass drownings, as police officers threw demonstrators into the river Seine.

i was listening to Swans, and now I'm listening to Yellow Swans...

can a force be said to have modes? i want to say something akin to Spinoza's attributes of substance, but have it be a modification/aspect of a force (action), not a substance (being). (ultimately the sense i want to convey is: all salvos in the one battle, but say this ontologically.)

if not, can a force be said to have something similar?

Today in Labor History October 13, 1157 BCE: The first recorded strike in history began in the Egyptian town of Deir el-Medina, when construction workers walked off the job 18 days after their payday had passed because they still had not been paid. They were under the employment of Pharaoh Ramses III. Their work consisted of building and decorating the royal tombs. The strike was recorded on a Papyrus that still exists.

The Way bears one.
The one bears two.
The two bear three.
The three bear the ten thousand things.
The ten thousand things
carry the yin on their shoulders
and hold in their arms the yang,
whose interplay of energy
makes harmony.

People despise
orphans, widowers, outcasts.
Yet that’s what kings and rulers call themselves.
Whatever you lose, you’ve won.
Whatever you win, you’ve lost.

What others teach, I say too:
violence and aggression
destroy themselves.
My teaching rests on that.

'The Fire of the Jaguar: Problems with perspectivism'
Chris Knight

Across Amazonia, myths hold that in early times it was the jaguars, parrots, tapirs and other animals who first invented bows and arrows, cooking fire, ceremonial buildings, religious ceremonies and other complex cultural accomplishments. Then humans stole these things from the animals, elevating themselves above all other creatures – but at the cost of losing their former ability to engage in easy conversation with the animal world. This mythic view of our origins is the reverse of the Darwinian narrative which our own culture holds up as science. In this talk, Chris will introduce a recent trend in social anthropology – known as ‘perspectivism’ – and discuss whether such radically different ways of perceiving our origins and place in nature can be made to converge.
