Data breaches, identity theft, and revocation: a real-world case study on why W3C is developing Verifiable Credential Barcodes
Keep vibe coding yourself into oblivion, MSlop
And somehow that would be supposed to convince Americans they should vote some more MAGA?
W3C issues press release about developing Verifiable Credential Barcodes
Recently the data theft of approximately 160 million drivers licenses from the US and Canada was reported and unfortunately, identity thieves will use this data to impersonate victims.
Real-time revocation is needed to protect individuals against identity theft. W3C Verifiable Credential Barcodes are the solution to the future of physical document security. Read more at:

I’m reading 👇 and I can only wonder why the #copyright #oligarchy doesn’t sue #AI companies into oblivion. What’s going on here?
Are you interested in the positive and negative impacts of Generative AI on society and its intersection with W3C's Ethical Web Principles and Vision?
@tzviya, @hdv, and @christianliebel are organizing a mini-workshop on AI and Society in Dublin on 28 October as part of TPAC 2026.

Just prepared a simple yet much enjoyable dinner for the love of my life. Had a very nice conversation with her. Being “left behind” can feel absolutely marvelous. Human?
Thursday was the 32nd anniversary of the founding of W3C. @dontcallmeDOM noted: "I'm proud that W3C has been a shepherd of the web and encouraged at all the people at W3C who are passionate about a web designed for the good of its users."
32 is a power of two (2^5), so a nice milestone for the geeks among us. To celebrate our 0b100000th anniversary, we've updated our donation pages to power of 2 values — for donations above 2^32, please DM us.

#SVG fans rejoice! \o/
As of today there is a fresh version of SVG2 with corrections, clarifications and improvements for more interoperability, in particular in implementations in web browsers.

Just received a very nasty phishing mail related to the Booking.com data breach reported in the press, e.g. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cly00jnnxypo The professionally looking email purports to be sent by a rental property we stayed at early this year. It states that we were overcharged for our stay and includes a QR code, which has to be scanned to get money back. I assume (but did not try) the QR code leads to a page where credit card information can be entered to claim reimbursement.
W3C is 32yo.
"To celebrate our 32nd anniversary on October 1, 2026, and for this week only, we updated our suggested donation amounts to power of 2 values, because 32 itself is a power of two!"

"The verdict is the first in which a Japanese court has declared that the human voice is protected under publicity rights, a reference to the ability to control and profit from aspects of an individual’s identity, in Tsuda’s case his distinctive voice."
Get the guy out of here already. How is he in a position to tell humanity to just suck it up. Could it be he’s thinking of the benefits to himself?
Accept ‘bad things’ in return for benefits of AI, says Sam Altman

“This is for everyone” or “free-for-all”?
The web has shifted from its original open, sharing-focused vision toward concerns over protecting vulnerable populations, copyright and AI data usage, and centralized social media that obscure data sharing and provenance.
Pierre-Antoine Champin and Viivi Lähteenoja will lead a mini-workshop at TPAC2026 in Dublin to explore new forms of data governance, data ownership, and decentralized alternatives.

I think you can call me naive.
Being used to working in the open at #W3C for accountability reasons among others, I just had the same 'huh?" reaction I have about Wikipedia rejecting some edits as non neutral, when moments ago I read someone writing me
>"I can put you in touch with [...] in case you want to corroborate any of the above."
Who would propagate falsehoods to drive an agenda? Oh, wait! most for-profit companies, right?
Trying to get my head around this. First there’s two attempts to kill a woman. Then, there’s desperate attempts to save her life. Doesn’t get more US, does it? https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/oct/02/christa-pike-failed-execution-unconcious
